We could not be any more proud of Year 6 than we are right now. They really have put everything they’ve got into showing off all they have learned throughout KS2 into their SATs this week.
One thing these tests do not measure is the fabulous, caring, funny and respectful role models they have all matured into this year, and regardless of what the results of these tests show, this alone is something they should feel immensely proud of.
As a reward, and to relax those hard-working brains, we are having a ‘chill out’ day tomorrow where Year 6 are invited to come into school in their pyjamas to chill on the bean bags and watch some movies. They have brought in a variety of movies which are either rated as a ‘U’ or a ‘PG’. If you do not wish for your child to watch these then please let me know.
Next focus: Our end of year production!
Super duper well done to all of you – a total credit to All Souls’!
Mrs H 🙂
Please keep Year 6 in your thoughts and prayers this week as they show off all the knowledge and skills they have gained throughout KS2 in their SATs.
If you see them around school, give them a smile and make sure they are smiling too!

As a treat to break up the SATs SATs SATs talk and give the children something to get excited about, we announced to both Year 5 and Year 6 the title of this year’s end of year performance: The Amazing Adventures of Superstan!

The children are as eager as we are to get underway with the preparations of this! We have given Year 6 a part of the script to use for their audition and we can’t wait to see what they produce!
So here’s what we want you to do: SAVE THE DATE!
Our evening performances will be at Bablake Theatre on Tuesday 11th July and Wednesday 11th July
As I am sure you are all aware, Year 6 will be sitting their statutory end of Key Stage assessments (SATs) throughout the week beginning Monday 8th May 2017. The timetable for the assessments, which is the same for all schools, is as follows:
| AM | PM | |
| Monday 8th May | English reading test | (1 hour) |
| Tuesday 9th May | English grammar, punctuation and spelling test | (45 minutes + Spelling test) |
| Wednesday 10th May | Maths Paper 1 (arithmetic) and
Maths Paper 2 (reasoning) |
(30minutes)
(40minutes) |
| Thursday 11th May | Maths Paper 3 (reasoning) | (40minutes) |
It is imperative that your child attends school each day that week and arrives by 8.30am at the latest. We will begin the tests once children are settled.
As you know, the children have prepared for these assessments throughout the year by working extremely hard. They are very aware of the format of the tests, having completed sample and past papers and therefore know how to complete them to the best of their abilities.
Once complete, the assessments are then posted off to be externally marked. These results typically return to school in early July, at which point they are checked by us. The children will find out their results once we have done this and feel the time is right. Your child’s results will be made available to you in their end of year school report.
It is understandable that the children may be feeling slightly nervous about the assessments. I have however, explained to them that they are not something that they should now be worrying about – that’s my job! They have worked incredibly hard this year and this is simply an opportunity for them to show this off. They should feel extremely proud of their efforts, as I already do!
If you have any questions about the SATs, please do not hesitate in coming to discuss them with me.
Thank you for your continued support.
Kind regards,
Mrs J Hartwell
*NB Please note, there was an error on the letter sent home – the two reasoning papers in maths are 40minutes, not 45minutes.
Wow! What a whirlwind of a term! Year 6 have been so busy working incredibly hard during the Spring term and have all made so much progress. We are so proud of them.
We hope you all have a lovely break over the Easter Holidays – get ready for an even crazier Summer Term!

Today, Year 6 sadly had to say goodbye to Naomi and the Wildlife Trust after 6 weeks of fabulous sessions exploring living things and their habitats! As you can tell from the photos, they have really enjoyed taking their Science lessons outdoors.
This afternoon, Year 6 performed their own versions of Traveling Dan to their prayer friends in Reception. We were all wowed by their performances!

Happy Mothers’ Day to all our wonderful Mummies! We love you!
Enjoy your day.
Look at what we have been creating in Year 6…
(And believe me when I say – these really were not as easy as they looked!)
