Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits

By Mrs J Hartwell17th May 2016

Congratulations to all of you for receiving the parts you were cast!

We were so pleased with the way in which you supported each other and applauded your friends, even when they may have got the roles you really wanted.

As you can imagine, it was a very difficult process as your auditions were so fab but we do feel the roles have been distributed fairly based upon yesterday and are really looking forward to watching you build and develop your characters.

Let the rehearsals commence…

Uber Super Duper!

By Mrs J Hartwell16th May 2016

blog-wow-01

We are absolutely astounded by the fantastic auditions we watched this morning. It was obvious how much you all want this as you really shone today. Unfortunately, you have all made our job so much harder so will have to wait until tomorrow to announce the parts.

Please remember, each and every part is as important as the other and you will all make a fantastic contribution to our end of year production!

Auditions

By Mrs J Hartwell13th May 2016

9449912_orig

Our audition rehearsals for our end of year production are underway and in full swing. This part of the year always brings so much joy as the children are really excited and enthusiastic about the audition process, practice and of course the big performances. I am extremely looking forward to supporting them in developing their roles and watching their confidence flourish. The auditions for this year’s production of Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits will take place on Monday 16th May 2016, where all children will perform a particular scene in pre-allocated groups. These will then be followed by singing auditions for the children hoping to sing a solo.

It is impossible for us to please every child in such situations – particularly so this year as they are all so desperate for specific roles – and so inevitably there will always be a bit of disappointment. Children really rise to the occasion on audition day due to the high competition and this only makes the process more difficult. The audition process is a fair one – parts are awarded purely on merit in the auditions, not on previous behaviour or roles in prior performances.

I would hope that most children, if not all, are happy with their allocated parts but it is understandable to be feeling a bit sad next week if things don’t quite work out the way everyone hopes. Please remember that every role in the play is as necessary and important as another. Every child will make a significant contribution to the play, regardless of how many lines they have, what they look like or whether they sing a solo or not. Such a production can only be a success with everyone fully accepting and embracing the roles they are allocated.

Good luck everyone!

Mrs H 🙂

Y6’s Fun Day Friday!

By Mrs J Hartwell13th May 2016

I am sure this felt like the longest week for Year 6 but it the end of it is finally here… Happy Friday!

As a treat for all their early mornings and hard work, today we had a chill-out day so out came the jogging bottoms and hoodies and in came the beanbags!

We began the morning with some fun games in Spanish with Senorita Martin before having a good catch up on the playground in the sunshine.

Obviously every child in Year 6 was awarded class superstar this week as each and everyone of them have made us all incredibly proud.

After superstars, we got comfy on the beanbags, dished out the popcorn and took advantage of the well deserved rest as we watched Maleficent!

image3

Unfortunately, not everyone managed to see it through to the end… Did they, Lisy?

image4

Thank you to all the parents for sending in some delicious treats – We spent the afternoon replenishing our sugar levels that had been drained throughout the week in preparation for the afternoon’s talent show!

Mrs Elkins continued to fill her belly as we prepared to be dazzled by an array of talents…

First up were Louis, Jack, Owen, Ryan, Ciaran and Joe who busted out a dance off to the melodies of Keon and his guitar.

Up next were Rafae and Kayden – aka Rafden – who entertained us with a few of their best jokes…

Georgina, Lisy and Ella then showed off their flexibility with a gymnastics dance routine…

DSCN0687 DSCN0686 DSCN0685 DSCN0684 DSCN0683 DSCN0688

Malaika showed off her artistic talents as we were left guessing to try and win a lollipop or two!

Ethan continued to keep the audience entertained with another joke or two

Whilst Luke sung and rapped his way through his own rendition of Wiz Khalifa’s ‘See you again’.DSCN0692 DSCN0693

Andy entertained us and really got the audience involved with his A-Z impressions…

Harry the hypnotist managed to put Mrs Elkins into a trance which led to her crawling around on all fours barking like a dog!

These four girls choreographed and performed a lovely dance routine showing off each of their talents.

Issy and Nathalie then performed another dance routine as a duo with a range of brave moves!

The last dance routine of the afternoon was put together by Rosaleen and Keavy who even included a lift in their performance

Next up were Houdini Hector and his mischievous puppet Mia…

Last but not least, we were entertained by this trio who inventively put together this piece where songs were part of real life contexts.

Dylan, Drew and Conrad became our deserving winners in our talent contest but there was definitely some stiff competition. Regardless, everyone who took part did a fantastic job – it was a perfect end to the week with so much laughter whilst reminding each other of our other hidden talents.

Once again, well done Year 6! Have a lovely weekend spending time with friends and family, eating, sleeping, playing, laughing and resting.

See you Monday!

Athletics

By Mrs J Hartwell6th May 2016

Mr Youson practised cricket with the boys while I had the pleasure of watching the girls work together as a team to create their own athletics courses.

Once complete, they drew a map to instruct the other teams on the order of their course before competing it out. Well done to ‘The Three Musketeers’ who completed all four courses in the best times!

St George’s Day Celebrations

By Mrs J Hartwell22nd April 2016

Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed making their flags in celebration of St. George’s Day – although their painting skills were a bit questionable at times!

Thank you for all the monetary, cake and bottle donations.
