Year 5 were lucky enough to take part in UNESCO’s ‘One Cup’ Ceramics Project 2023.
We visited a workshop at Finham Park 2 this afternoon where we learnt all about the Sustainable Development Goals and the ancient traditions of the Japanese tea ceremony in which one tea bowl is shared by all participants. This image will be used at the conference in Tokyo in September to discuss peace making initiatives based on the idea that the world has ‘one cup’ of natural resources that must be shared equably and sustainably between nations.
During the workshop we were able to each make our own ceramic bowl! These will then be heated in an Anagama kiln in Oxford before travelling to Tokyo and Paris and finally returning home to Coventry for an exhibition in January 2024.
We are so excited to see our finished pieces on display!
