Yesterday (Tuesday 23rd February) both the boys and girls football team took part in the finals of the Coventry 4-a-Side tournament at The Conextions in Ryton.

Both teams got off to a great start winning their opening game. The boys also won the second game with the girls drawing 1-1 in theirs. With these great results it meant that both teams were through to the semi-finals before they had even played their final group game. The girls came across a strong Wyken Cross team and although initially leading the game lost 3-1. The boys played Christ the king in their final group game and played a hard fought game that ended 1-1.

The girls were handed an extremely tough task in the semi-final as they faced Christ the King, a team who have not lost a game all season. Unfortunately, although they played well and tried their absolute best they were just too strong for us and beat us 6-0.

The boys team played Bablake School in their semi-final match and despite going 2 goals down early on they managed to fight back to win the game 4-2 after extra time.

The final was a fantastic match against Finham Park School, both sides played some great football and had chances to win the game. We forced their keeper to make 4 or 5 superb saves and when we did beat the him we unfortunately kept on finding the crossbar. The deadlock was finally broken after Finham broke late in the game to score the only goal and win the final 1-0.

It was a great effort from both the boys and girls this year and to finish in the top four and runners up out of all the schools in Coventry is a fantastic achievement. Well done everyone.
