Super duper congratulations to Nathalie, Keon and Drew who argued their motion that living in the town is better than living in the country in the final of Coventry’s Primary Debating Competition. They couldn’t have done it to such a high standard without their side-kick Rosaleen who put in as much effort and preparation in helping them and practising as a reserve. All four children have put in tremendous amounts of effort over the past few weeks and so it was great to see the outcome of this as we, along with their parents and grandparents, watched the debate being streamed live today into our very own classroom. They truly did make us extremely proud. Well done debaters!

Keeping in with the theme, all of Year 6 have been busy preparing for their very own debates which we had the pleasure of watching this afternoon. Again the effort and preparation that had gone into some of the arguments today was fantastic to see.

There were four motions that children either proposed or opposed:

  1. Children should be grouped by ability.
  2. Reading and Reading Records should be banned.
  3. SATs should be scrapped!
  4. Being the Teacher is better than being the Teaching Assistant
