On Monday 30th March the football team played in the quarter finals of the Harry Shaw Cup against Manor Park School. It was a highly entertaining game with both teams pressing the ball high up the pitch from the beginning.
The day didn’t start off well as 4 of our 9 players were away ill meaning we had to draft in 2 extra players, Kupa (Y6) and Ewan (Y4). Both of these played exceptionally well, you wouldn’t of noticed they hadn’t played in the team before. Kupa and Ryan/Ciaran were solid at the back the whole game and only gave away 1 chance in the first half which unfortunately for us they scored. Although we had the majority of the possession in the first half we failed to create any real clear cut chances and went into half time 1-0 down.
The 2nd half was much like the first as we had all the possession again, this time though we did manage to create 3 or 4 good chances with Michael, Ewan and Jude all going close, however we couldn’t convert these into goals. The one time we did put the ball in the net was unfortunately deemed to be a foul on the keeper as Michael kicked the ball from under their keeper’s hand. Then in the final minute as we pushed everyone up to try and get the equaliser they hit us on the break and after Ethan had made a couple of great saves they scored a 2nd goal to end the game.
Everyone played superbly, it was a real team performance we were just unlucky on the day not to win the game.
