Just making final preparations for our Safer Internet Week – which is just a week or so away.

Looking forward to being able to award our Year 5 and 6 children these great badges once we have certified them ‘Cyber Safe’!

Please note that after school tomorrow there will be an opportunity for you to come into school to view your child’s work books.  These will be on display in your child’s classroom from the end of the day until 5:15pm.

This was meant to take place before the Christmas break, however had to be postponed due to the weather.

For safeguarding reasons we would appreciate it if you could refrain from entering the school building until all children have been dismissed at the end of the school day.  Class teachers will let you know when this is the case.  We would also appreciate it if you could exit the school through the external fire doors in the school hall, as the pedestrian gate will be locked by 4pm.  Those arriving after this time should also enter through the hall door.

This is a great opportunity to see how your child has settled into the year and I would encourage as many parents to attend as possible.  Children are welcome to come along with you and will be able to show you their favourite work!

Please note though that whilst class teachers will be present, they will be unable to hold consultations.  An opportunity to meet with them with be available later in the term.

Please note the following:

• after school club with be closing at 4:30 pm again tonight.  We hope to be back to normal tomorrow.
• The Year 5 and 6 trip to planet ice has been postponed until after Christmas.  A letter will be coming home tonight.

Please note the following notices as a result of the current weather and forecast:

• all clubs except choir are now closed until after Christmas
• the open book evening, scheduled for after school tomorrow is postponed to the first Wednesday of the Spring term
• While the snow and ice persists, we will be relaxed in terms of morning registration and will not record children as late if their delay is a result of the weather
• We would advise children to bring spare socks/footwear and come wrapped up warm with hats and gloves
• A decision regarding the Year 5/6 ice skating trip on Thursday afternoon will be made on Thursday morning – children should assume that it will take place but be prepared for a change of circumstances on the morning
• after school club will run until 4:30pm only tonight – this will reviewed daily whilst the snow and ice persists
• The immunisation team will be in this afternoon to administer the flu nasal spray to children in Years R-4 as was planned for yesterday

We also would like to express our thanks to Barrie Mulvenna and the two members of the Fallons grounds maintenance team who worked tirelessly this morning to clear snow from the school driveway and paths!

Hope everyone has enjoyed their snow day! School will be open as usual tomorrow – Tuesday 12th December.  Please take extra care when making your journey to school – we would rather children arrive late and safe than taking risks.
