Forest School

It was a very wet one this week in forest school!

We used our knotting skills (which we definitely need to practise!), sticks, rope and whatever we could forage from the forest floor to create mobiles!

Here are some of our creations:

As we do like to get out into the forest school ‘come rain or shine’, it is really important that the children have their tracksuits, appropriate footwear (we really recommend wellies!), waterproof coats, hats and gloves with them. 

As the old saying goes, ‘there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing!’ 

 

Forest School

 The focus this week was on collecting, sorting and identifying leaves using our classification sheets to help us.

We used these (and some other cool finds!) to create our very own King/Queen of the forest crowns.

Spaghetti Maths!

What a fabulous start to our Spaghetti Maths after school club! The children were  so excited to get stuck in with their first activity which involved creating a 3D net that magically transformed into a cube!

We can’t wait until next week!

Superstars and Pen licences!

Forest School

Some of our Year 5 and Year 6 children enjoyed their first forest school lesson of the year.

We began the session with a focus on safety discussing how important our 3 school rules are especially in forest school, before kickstarting the fun with our forest school chant. The focus this week was on collecting, sorting and identifying leaves using our classification sheets to help us.

It was an especially windy day today in forest school and although we could spot that Autumn is on its way thanks to the colouring of some leaves and the increasing fall, we noticed that for now, the environment around us was still predominantly green. We will be observing this each week to spot the changes that take place throughout the different seasons.

In honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, we used the leaves (and other finds!) and our creativity to work together in small groups to design and make a crown.

Well done to Sienna, Layla and Eden who were voted and crowned this week’s winners.

Welcome back, Year 5!

We have had a fantastic first week in Year 5 getting to know each other and settling into our new classroom. We have already experienced lots of new learning, fun and laughter and are all extremely excited for the year ahead!

Welcome back to all of our families as we begin a new school year and a very warm welcome to our new families joining our wonderful All Souls community. We are all very excited to catch up with all the children to hear of their adventures over the summer and get to know our new starters.
