History Day: Significant Wars
We loved dressing up as soldiers, lieutenants, evacuees and land girls today to represent our history unit: Significant Wars.
We began celebrating History Day today by sharing with the rest of the school what we have learnt about ‘Significant Wars’ so far.
We spent the day doing carousel activities to use sources to find out when and where different wars began, what caused them, who were involved, how and when they ended and the impact of them on people’s lives. We were then greeted by a special visitor who came to talk to use about his experience of war and his service as a Grenadier guard. John explained his role, let us try on his bear skin, answered lots of or questions and taught us how to march!
We had a great day immersing ourselves in history!
The whole school thoroughly enjoyed being historians today.
Our history day began with an assembly delivered by Miss Piercy which taught us all about the importance of chronology. We then took it in turns to let the rest of the school know what we have been learning about in history this term!
Year 6 have created their own baby Jesus to take to Mass on this Third Sunday of Advent (Gaudete Sunday) to be blessed by Father Paul.
We look forward to seeing our families gathered together in collective worship during this special season of Advent.
Year 6 are invited to come into school on the last day of term, Friday 17th December, in pyjamas/comfies for some chilled festivities. I will provide the treats to celebrate the end of what has been a very busy half term and so the children do not need to bring anything in with them.
Thank you.

Year 6’s History Day: Significant Wars
As part of our whole school History Day, Year 6 will be learning all about ‘Significant Wars’.
Children are invited to come into school wearing fancy dress in relation to war. This is completely optional but below are some ideas that hopefully you can recycle old clothes into. If your child has nothing to wear related to war in particular, then they may come into school in non-school uniform due to the late notice.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Mrs Hartwell

Year 6 had a lovely day out filled with knowledge, wonder and awe today.
We made our way to St Chad’s Cathedral in Birmingham via train before having a tour of the beautiful Catholic cathedral and all it has to offer. We learnt so much about its history before celebrating in mass together.
We even found a little piano that was screaming to be played so Nathan gave us a little Christmas jingle to sing along to in true Year 6 style.
A reminder that Year 6 will be visiting St. Chad’s Cathedral tomorrow:
(Friday 3rd December 2021).
Children should arrive at school between 7.45 – 8am in their full school uniform, with a waterproof coat and woolly hat/scarves/gloves to keep warm.
They should also bring with them their packed lunch in disposable packaging along with their water bottle in a backpack.
We will be back in time for the end of the school day.
Thank you!
Mrs Hartwell

Year 6 are celebrating the season of Advent today by getting our hearts and classrooms ready for Jesus. We have joined together in prayer, prepared our class prayer area, created our class wreath, become Secret Saints and advertised the message of this exciting season! #advent
