Year 3 went into the local woodland to explore issues affecting flora, fauna and the Countryside. We first looked at the climate zone we live in and what trees are native to the area. Then we searched for issues affecting the environment. We decided the biggest problem was US!
Anti-Bullying Week 2023 is coordinated in England, Wales and Northern Ireland by the Anti-Bullying Alliance. This year it has the theme ‘Make A Noise About Bullying’ and will take place from Monday 13th to Friday 17th November. The week kicked off with Odd Socks Day, where adults and children wear odd socks to celebrate what makes us all unique.
Year 3 were shocked to find how much sugar and fat is in the food we eat daily. We can fun comparing different foods. Then we created the prefect balanced diet day, which included a little bit of chocolate.
After 22 years at All Souls’, Miss Fox has decided it is time for her next adventure. We are so happy for her. Miss Fox all we can say is thank you. Thank- you for being such a big part
of our children’s lives and all you have done for us all.
The day started with an assembly looking back over the last 22 years and celebrating her in a very All Souls’ way. Year 3 and Year 6 prepared a little performance.
This afternoon, Miss Fox and Year 3 had a party to celebrate her. It included; party food, music, silly games, the All Souls’ conga and a very competitive game of musical chairs.
Miss Fox, we love you. You will be so missed. Go shine!
Year 3 investigated what is a sandwich and why they make a good snack. We looked at the structure of a sandwich and tasted a variety of fillings to examine flavours and textures. We went to Morrisons to see what sandwiches they sold and get our ingredients. Carefully, we planned and designed a sandwich, made it and thoughtfully we evaluated our sandwich.
We had a great day exploring the history of Cadbury. The children represented the school brilliantly.
In RE, the children worked in pairs and interviewed each other as if they were a disciples. They asked lots of questions, including why did they chose to follow Jesus.
This week, Year 3 were extremely lucky to have Ms Fox’s granddaughter, Aila, as their VIP reader. The children throughly enjoyed listening to a story Ms Fox use to read to her daughters.
Year 3 had hot chocolate in forest school as they listened to the ‘Impossible Boy’. The children decided ‘Sebastian Cole’ probably wished he went to All Souls’. What a lovely end to the day!
