Welcome back Year 1, we hope you had an enjoyable festive break. Myself and Miss Senyk would like to thank you for the kind gifts and cards you gave us for Christmas – it was lovely to open them on Christmas morning.
We have another busy half term ahead, here is an overview for you:
English – we will be basing our writing skills on the book Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers
RE – continue with the Christmas story
Maths – looking at measuring, money, and number problems
Science – Our unit is Animals including humans
Art – Portrait drawing
ICT – computer skills
PE – Dance and football skills (PE days are Thursday afternoon and Friday morning)
Geography – Hot and Cold climates
Please can you make sure that all items of uniform including PE kit are labelled with your childs name – we have had a number of items go missing!

We hope you had a good half term holiday and looking forward to the last half term of 2014.
We had a busy week learning about all different materials in our school. We went on a investigation walk around the school grounds and founds lots of different materials.
Shape has been a focus this week, learning about 2D shapes and their properties.
We are writing instructions in English using bossy verbs and time words.
In RE we have been learning about prayer and having a go at writing our own.
Its full swing with the Christmas Play songs and they are sounding great already!
A couple of reminders: please can you make sure the children have their named PE kit in school (Monday and Friday is PE), also to bring in your Pantomime money and form.
The Catholic netball league is up and running and the team were in action today, their first game against CTK. We got off to a great start and were straight at the opposition scoring in the first minute. This level of pace and accuracy of passing and shooting continued throughout each quarter. All Souls scoring even more goals as the game progressed.
Final score 13-2 to All Souls!
Well done team, what a great start to the season. Thanks to Mrs Wells for umpiring and to the parents who helped support the team and to Mrs Brennan for supplying the wine gums!

More results from the netball team who were continuing their unbeaten run in matches. They played their penultimate away league game against the unbeaten St Osburgs team last night.
It was a highly contested match with both teams needing the win! All Souls got off to a great start, passing and moving the ball around the court successfully. We managed to pull away with the score leading 10-1 into the final quarter.St Osburgs needing to score a few more goals brought on their very tall shooter who couldn’t miss despite determined attempts from our defenders to stop her!
Final score 11-5 win to All Souls. Well done team! Only one more game to play in the league against Christ The King on 20th March.

Congratulations to the netball team, they won the Coventry West High 5 competition this afternoon.
First match against Whitmore Park. After a very slow start and the team managed to get some passing and movement together. Final score 2-0 win to All Souls.
Player of the match – Padraic superb defending
Second game verses Grange Farm. Now the team were warmed up they produced some great passing and movement, getting the ball to the shooters who couldn’t miss! Defenders did their job too, keeping a clean sheet. Final score 10-0 win.

Third and final game against our rivals Keresley Grange. A tougher match, but the team were really playing for each other. Both shooters and defenders were awesome with great link up play by the Centre. Final score 9-1 win!

The team now go onto the County Finals representing Coventry West playing in Rugby on the 27th March – Good luck team.

The team were in action again this week against St Thomas More. It was an away league match and the team were hoping to continue their unbeaten run of games. The first quarter under way with some sharp passing and shooting from the players we gained a 4-1 lead. As the game continued the team pulled ahead, scoring another 4 goals, some excellent defending from especially from Padraic and Ben we were able to hold on for another victory! 8-1 to All Souls – well done team. Many thanks again to the supporters who came along to cheer the team.
