Year 5 are super excited to be finally on the way to Alton Castle!
Year 5 thoroughly enjoyed kickstarting this year’s World Book Day by heading down to the
‘All Souls Reading Cafe’!
Our reservation began with Mrs Hartwell reading an extract of our class book before we went off to choose our own story to share with one another or a family member over some juice and biscuits.
I’m sure you will all agree that we looked the part too!
We LOVE reading in Year 5 🙂
Year 5 were absolutely thrilled to find out that each and every one of the eco poems they wrote for the Big Green Poetry Machine competition has been chosen to be published!
We are super proud of all their hard work and creativity. Well done, Year 5!
A few children in Year 5 have been invited to come together and create our very own All Souls Rock Band! This week, they have been trialling out some different instruments to see where their talents are best suited. They are extremely excited to find out their roles within the band and get practising ready to perform to us all in the near future!
To celebrate and spread the enjoyment of reading, we have introduce
‘VIP Reader’
in Year 5 where someone new is invited into our classroom to read a chapter from our class book. We were so excited to find out who our very first VIP reader was this week…
Thank you to Louie (and his Daddy) for making our class story time that little bit more special!
We are so excited to welcome our children and their grown ups to our All Souls Reading Cafe tomorrow to share a story, drink and treat! Don’t forget to reserve your seat!
As part of their RE unit, learning about other faiths, Year 5 visited a Hindu Temple this week. We learnt so much and really enjoyed having a little dance and sing too!
In Design Technology, Year 5 were tasked with designing and creating their own ‘savoury bake’.
First, they researched what a savoury bake was, typical fillings and the variety of shapes they come in before designing 3 of their own creations.
They then conducted some market research to find out which option was most appealing to our parents, grandparents and staff.
After they had decided which product they were going to make, each group headed to Morrisons with their shopping list to buy their ingredients. They had to find the location of the items needed and compare prices to ensure they got the best deal!
Then, it was time to get cooking…
…. and finally tasting!
