Well done to all of the children for the thought and effort that they put into their work for the class World Book Day competition. Mrs Hands thoroughly enjoyed reading and looking through all of the work and seeing the progress children have made. It was not an easy task to choose only one winner from each class. Mr Cooke announced the winners during Superstars Assembly and each winner was awarded with a £5 Amazon voucher and a book.

In school today, we celebrated World Book Day. The aim of the day is to celebrate the joy and value of books and the art of reading. Children, and many staff members, attended school dressed as book characters or dressed in their pyjamas and it was very interesting to see the different costumes. Thank you, parents, for your efforts in getting costumes prepared/made. Below are photographs of what each year group and staff looked like. Can you work out the various characters?
Children put their World Book Day tokens towards the cost of books at the Usborne Book Fair which was held in the School Hall before and after school. The fayre was very successful and the sale of books totalled an amazing £749.72. This means that the school will receive £449.83 to spend on books which is fantastic! Thank you very much for supporting this.

Children within each year group competed against each other to draw a picture and/or complete a piece of writing. Most of the tasks were based on a book that the children had had read to them in class. It was apparent, from looking at all of the entries, that the children put a great deal of thought and effort into this work and it was not an easy task to choose only one winner from each class. Winners will be announced during tomorrow’s Superstars Assembly.

Below are a selection of entries from each year group.
The Masked Reader was back this year as part of our World Book Day celebrations. Each day, a video has been posted of a member of staff reading an extract from a children’s book. However, the staff member’s face and voice have been disguised. The children have thoroughly enjoyed trying to use the clues given to them to work out who is behind the disguise. Who will tomorrow’s final Masked Reader be?

We have been busy bees in Nursery this week. As well as role playing Baby Peter’s Baptism we have been doing lots of activities about heavy/light objects, comparing the weight of objects and using the balancing scales. Today Myself and Mrs McCloskey took all of your generous donations of childrens clothes and toys to GrowKids in Foleshill -they said a BIG THANK YOU and were very appreciative of all of the things that the children brought in.
- Which is heavier/lighter?
- How can we move the feathers without touching them?
- What is heavier than a Teddy Bear?
- Builders in the making!
