Year 5 had a fantastic time visiting the local allotment to harvest the potatoes we planted before the summer holidays!

We were amazed to see just how well our potatoes had grown. There was lots of excitement, digging and discovering as we uncovered our hidden treasures beneath the soil. We had so much fun getting our hands dirty and seeing the results of our hard work!

We are going to use our potatoes to help us write a procedural text explaining how to bake the perfect jacket potato. We’ll be thinking carefully about the ingredients, equipment and step-by-step instructions needed to create a delicious meal.

And the best part? We get to eat our potatoes too! 🥔😋 We can’t wait to enjoy the tasty results of our hard work, from planting to plate!

A huge thank you to Roger, the allotment owner, for welcoming us, allowing us to visit and teaching us all about growing potatoes and looking after an allotment. We learnt so much and really enjoyed our visit!
