Hello Everyone,

What a busy week we’ve had in Nursery! On Tuesday the children had an amazing time in P.E when they went on a pirate adventure – they were so involved and had great fun with their teacher, Chez. Wednesday was Remembrance Day and the other teachers in school were very impressed with the way Nursery children stood in silence for two minutes – we were the best in the school! The children made beautiful poppies using different materials and I’m sure you couldn’t miss the giant poppy badges they made to wear on their jumpers. On Thursday we learnt about Diwali and we made Rangoli patterns with coloured pasta, Mandalas in the playdough and mendhi patterns using lentils and sequins. The children looked wonderful on Friday for Children in Need day and we continued the theme of looking at different shapes and patterns that we had talked about in the week. Of course the best part of the day was decorating and then eating spotty biscuits at snack time! The children were very impressed with how we could make a rainbow using Skittles, a plate and a cup of warm water – we had some great predictions about what would happen when we poured the water onto the plate. Next week out letter sound we are focussing on in phonics is ‘t’ and we will be looking at different materials made out of wood, plastic, metal and glass.
