What an eventful week we have had in Y5!

As always, the summer term is such a busy one, jam-packed with events to keep us on our toes! Sponsored bounce, football madness and that’s just the beginning!

Since Y5 are so proactive, joining lots of clubs and contributing well to school life, we must congratulate half the class on their fabulous choir performance at The Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday. They were excellent ambassadors for All Souls. There are a few videos of the performance shared on the PTA facebook page that will give you tingles!

Our prayer services are really developing into thoughtful, reflective collective worships that truly give us focus and food for thought. Since the beginning of the Spring Term, the children have been learning to create their own prayer services. Through hearing feedback given to other groups, we have all learnt from each other and some groups have produced such a beautiful, mature service that they have been shown to other classes!

In literacy, we have been developing scripts based on our text, War Horse. Y5 have been so engaged and really enjoyed refining their techniques- we can’t wait to read the finished pieces. West End, here we come!

We have moved onto an exciting new topic in science, ‘Living Things and Their Habitats’.  For the next few weeks we will be investigating life cycles and reproduction of plants and animals. It’s such an interesting topic, learning about life in the world around us and it also links very well with our gardening projects…

The weather has most definitely hindered our green fingers but at least the rain means our plants are well hydrated. Last week, our garden reporters informed us that our flowers and veggies are battling with lots of pesky weeds! Slowly but steadily, our carrots and radishes are making a slight appearance but no sign of the flowers yet!

Finally, just a few notices for the week ahead…

  • A reminder of our Y5 Humanities Day at Bishop Ullathorne on Friday. There is no need to bring a packed lunch as lunch will be provided. Please refer to the letter for further details.
  • We are in full swing with our Y5/6 end of year play rehearsals so if anyone has any Arabian/ Aladdin style costumes, please may you bring them in- labelled with your name- ASAP. Thank you!
  • As it is Y6’s Confirmation on Sunday, we ask that as many Y5s as possible attend to sing in the choir and show support. Remember, you will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation next year and will want your peers to support you!

Have a fabulous week everyone!
