A great start to the week for Year One!
Tai has worked hard with his maths and reading comprehension alreayd this week but my favourite piece of news to recievewas his progress with his pepper plant. Tai has been using his knoweldge ofplants to plant and grow a pepper plant. He looked closely at the life cycle of plants and completed a comic strip showing these stages. I can;t wait to see how well the pepper grows.
Emily started the week with her reading comprehension and a lovely email that she sent with the help of her mum. Emily, like many of her friends in Year One, is trying really hard to complete the home learning tasks but is missing school life a little bit now. We will keep working together and soon we will be back as one big All Souls’ family again.
Once again Grace has had a flying start to the week and has flown through the maths work and onto her science and reading comprehsnion too! A great start back to home learning and it looks like that cursive writing is really starting to come on now. Well done Grace!

Phoebe has worked incredibly hard already this week in mastering money. She has been able to identify different coins and notes and moved on to challenge herself by adding amounts together when buying items. It has been great to hear of Phoebe’s confidence growing when using and recognising money this week. Phoebe is very proud of her achievements and I am too! Keep it up Phoebe!
Jessica has been working hard over the past few weeks and has been focusing on her RE and maths this week. She has made a beautiful Easter candle after researching what these different symbols mean. Jessica also focused on her shapes and has been able to identify the shapes in different objects as well as the properties of different 3D shapes. Well done Jessica!
Abbie has had a fantastic week! Starting out by focusing on money, Abbie was able to recognise coins and notes and moved on to working out more difficult number problems using money. Abbie chose different resources to help her to solve these problems which are great to hear. Abbie then moved on to research one of the countries that is part of the United Kingdom. Having decided on Scotland, Abbie completed her own research and created a brilliant fact file with accurate and interesting information. She planned and set up a beautiful prayer service with the right colour cloth and enjoyed reading the Bible. Abbie finished the week by planning and writing a brilliant description of Mr Twit, she used some great adjectives and even used similes to describe him. I especially enjoyed seeing how brilliantly Abbie’s cursive writing is developing! Well done Abbie!
Phoebe continued her week of hard work focusing on Design and Technology. This week’s focus was planning and making a healthy salad. Phoebe chose to make a fruit salad and because her favourite fruits are berries so she decided to make a mixed berry salad. Phoebe used a knife and very carefully chopped the strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries; she then put yogurt on top and served it to her family. Everyone clearly enjoyed it as all the plates were cleared! To end the week Phoebe focused on Geography and enjoyed looking at the 4 different countries that make up the United Kingdom. Phoebe chose the country of Wales to research, she watched videos on YouTube, looked in books and had a look on the internet and then made a fact sheet on the laptop using Microsoft word! Well don Phoebe on a great week of home learning!
Grace continued her fantastic start to the week and continued to work hard. She moved on to focus on her RE and created a lovely Easter candle using all the symbols that were identified, planning it first and then creating her own candle too! She then focused on her geography and focused on Scotland as her chosen country; she researched facts about this country and created her own fact file including the flag. She then focused on Design and Technology to plan and make a healthy salad. Grace chose to make a mixed salad and included lettuce, carrots, grapes, strawberries, tomatoes and apple! Grace used a knife and very carefully chopped all the ingredients; it looked delicious! Grace has worked hard on her cursive writing and started to practise her ladder letters and zigzag monsters, she is applying this in her work too and the practise is definitely paying off! Grace finished off the week by writing her description of Mr Twit. Well done Grace, another great week of home learning!
