We had an exciting day visiting the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery to explore the Staffordshire Hoard collection of Anglo Saxon gold and to learn all about the life and times of the Anglo Saxons.
We were given the opportunity to examine cow horns, swords, goblets, weaponry and even tried on original Anglo Saxon armour! One of the absolute highlights of the day was going to battle with one another in a magnificent shield-wall war!
The children were incredibly enthusiastic throughout the session and asked many inquisitive questions.
After the session we had some free time to explore the Art Gallery, where we viewed the ‘Giants’ exhibition and went on a pre-historic journey to learn about animals that roamed the earth over 66 million years ago.
Well done Year 5 for navigating the train journey and Birmingham city centre so carefully on our visit and for working together to make such a fun-filled day!
A special thank you to Ed and Will from #BirminghamMuseumandArtGallery for making the morning so engaging for the children! #visitbirmingham
