This week started off with a good gossip about what secondary schools we are all going to – it is scary how fast Year 6 is flying by but exciting too! In numeracy, we have been working hard (as usual) learning how to transform shapes using translation, reflection and rotation. In literacy, we started our week off by collectively creating our own animal mash ups in preparation for the non-chronological reports we have been writing. Take a look in our literacy books to find out more about the ‘Lion Cow-raffe’, the ‘Sheep-bird Butterlion’, the ‘Horion Snakeraffe’ and many more weird and wonderful creatures! After working hard all week on improving our writing skills we were rewarded with a bit of extra play Friday afternoon, which of course we all deserved and enjoyed!
Choir have been practicing for their Strictly appearance which we hope goes really well on Sunday! We have all been improving out musical talents writing our own songs in groups for Mrs Ellis – soon we will performing to Mrs Hartwell and Mr Cooke. As usual, we also have had another amazing ukulele lesson with Mr Evans!
In PE we did a bleep test with Mr Youson and we have also started Gaelic football with Mrs Fennell this week where we soon realised this was not Mrs Hartwell’s thing!
On Tuesday we sung a big Happy Birthday to Orla O’Shea and thanked her for her yummy sweets! We also wish Callum Keane a big Happy Birthday who also turns 11 this weekend!
After trying out for the Rowing Competition, Catherine, Roisin, Maticia, Finn,Ben S and Joe were picked to represent our school! They did us all proud by taking second and third places! Well done all!
Well done to our super duper Superstars this week: Ju-Eun for her superb effort in Maths and Bronagh for her improved writing skills! Well done! *5RT each*
We have also been thinking about the promises we want to make in preparation for our Confirmation in June and have made some certificates to present to Father Michael during our commitment mass this Sunday. We have also been asked to think about choosing a Saint who means something to us.
Have a lovely weekend! We hope to see you all Sunday. 🙂
