Our Ofsted inspection took place on Friday 1st July 2022.

It went extremely really well, and the report has now been published.

All Sorts Early Years and Extended Services

By All Sorts14th May 2020

I hope that you and your families are all keeping safe and well.

Yesterday emails were sent with an attached letter to all of the families that use our service. If your child accesses both Early Years and Extended Services we are currently in a position where we have to treat these services differently so you will have received two slightly different emails and letters.

We are currently planning for the proposed opening of Early Years on 1st June which in itself brings many challenges!  We have yet to make any decisions regarding our Extended Services provision. This is mainly down to the guidance we have received since Sunday informing us that children who attend are to be kept in ‘bubbles’ and are not mix outside of this ‘bubble’. I am sure you can appreciate that opening Extended Services to all Year groups that are allowed to attend school would go against this guidance so there is much more planning to do here. I will keep you all informed accordingly.

As always if you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact me via email and I will endeavour to get back to you as soon as I can.

Stay safe and well

Early Years

By All Sorts28th April 2020

I hope that you and your families are all keeping well.

It’s a very strange start to the Summer Term without your children here, we are missing them all and look forward to seeing them again as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.

Jo and I wanted to keep in regular contact with you all so will be sending out a newsletter via email in the coming days. We also felt it was important to give you some ideas of activities in line with the EYFS framework that you could do with your child whilst at home.

Each keycare group will recieve a sheet alongside the newsletter with some suggestions of Learning Objectives similar to those we would have been working towards within All Sorts. Make them as fun and exciting as possible, children learn best this way and of course if you are happy to share any photos we would love to see them.

Take care, stay safe and well

Easter Acitivities

6th April 2020All Sorts

10 egg-citing things to do during the Easter holidays - Go North East

In All Sorts this week we would have been offering children a variety of learning opportunities based around Easter and in our efforts to promote parental partnership we would have had our Easter craft morning for you all to attend with your children.

Therefore Jo and I thought it would be nice to share a selection of activities for you and your child to enjoy whilst at home:

  • Make and decorate an Easter bonnet.
  • Go on an Easter egg hunt; hide some eggs in the garden, let your child seek and find them, count how many they have collected.
  • Make some Easter nest cakes; melt some chocolate into a bowl, pour in some rice krispies or crumble in some shredded wheat, mix well to coat the cereal in chocolate, spoon the mixture into cake cases, top with chocolate eggs, allow them to set and then of course enjoy eating one or two!

There are also have some other activities that can be emailed to any parents that would like them, these include; Easter colouring sheets, an Easter shape chick to cut out and make and a decorate your own Easter egg sheet, please do let me know if you would like any of these emailing.

It would be lovely for you to share any pictures of your children enjoying these activities to [email protected]

Whilst this will be a very different one, we would like to wish each and every one of our familes a Happy Easter, stay safe and take care.

Play dough is an amazing tool that provides many learning opportunities for children. Have a go at making your own at home with a few store cupboard staples.

Benefits of play dough:

Enhances fine motor skills:

When your child squishes, rolls, flattens, shapes, scores or cuts play dough, they develop and strengthen hand muscles. The strengthened hand muscles will help improve fine motor skills of your child

Improves pre-writing skills:

When your child plays with play dough, their pincer grip (the squeezing of pointer finger and thumb to grasp an object) improves. An improved pincer grip enhances your child’s pre-writing skills
Creativity and imagination
Play-dough provides your child with unlimited possibilities of moulding the dough into food, animals, decorations, flowers etc. Thereby, it encourages your child to use his imagination and inspires his creativity. If your child uses various shapes, rolling pins and other tools while playing with play dough it further improves his creative imagination.

Calming effect:

Is your child often restless and finds it difficult to express his emotions? Give him some play dough to play. Sitting at one place and squishing and squashing of play dough will have a very calming and soothing effect on him. It will also provide him with great option to express his emotions.

Develops hand – eye coordination:

Using a variety of shapes and rolling pins while playing with play-dough will improve your child’s hand-eye-coordination

Social skills:

When your child plays with play-dough along with other siblings or you they will interact, talk, discuss problems and find solutions to creating great works of art and craft with play dough. Thus, playing with play dough will enhance your child’s social skills
Increases curiosity and knowledge
When your child mixes 2 different coloured doughs together and discovers a new colour or when they learn to mould play dough in different shapes, it encourages their curiosity, they will ask various questions which would help increase their knowledge.

Above all else have fun!!

You can send any pictures of your child enjoying this suggested activity to [email protected] we would love to see them and of course if your happy for me to I can also share them on the site for all of families to see.

Take Care and Stay Safe

Our Early Years Practitioners are working on ideas for you to consider offering your child whilst at home and these will be available for you to access here from next week. Please remember these are just a guide and there is no expectation that you make your child ‘sit and work’ we will be offering a lot of different EYFS objectives for you offer your children as positive experiences.

As a parent myself I know that these are anxious times for our children too, so above all else my advice would be to give them time, hug them tight, and enjoy spending some quality time with them.

Development Matters
Each week the objectives that we are following are written on the Children’s Learning Pathways Wall in the entrance area. These objectives are for our children aged 30-50 months.
