Another lovely day with group E today.  We went on an unaccompanied walk through the forest this morning and after lunch went to the beach to have a play, paddle and ice cream.  I can’t believe that my holiday will be over tomorrow.

I’m having a lovely holiday here in Wales.  The scenery is breathtaking, the weather is fab and it’s such a great environment to relax and forget about all of the stress back in Coventry.

Aside from that, the children in group E have been having a fantastic time creating lifelong memories.  They really have been super company, great entertainment and we really haven’t had to do a lot at all! What fantastic children you have who are very much demonstrating the three values of Plas Dol-y-Moch: Respect, Responsibility and Resilience.

This afternoon, Year 4 have been sketching portraits of our class Saint, Padre Pio.  I’m so impressed with how their art skills have already developed this year and was blown away by their efforts.  Have a look at a few of them below.

It’s been a really odd day in many ways – but one way in which it has been especially odd is by the children across the school wearing odd socks.  This is part of a national campaign for Anti-Bullying week, and has demonstrated how we’re all different and little odd in our own ways (especially the teachers)!

As part of the IntoFilm festival, Year 4 visited the Vue cinema at Star City to watch the UK premier of 2040. It was a climate change film/documentary which explored what life could be like in 2040 if we work together to reverse some of the damage that we have inflicted on our planet.

The children behaved themselves superbly and it was great to have some very deep and meaningful conversations about film afterwards. Upon returning to school, the children wrote reviews of the film which we will be entering into the IntoFilm review competition.

It’s taken a little longer than planned to sort the photos out…but here’s a selection of snaps taken during our hike through the northern hills of the Malverns last week. We had such a great day, despite it being cold and windy, and it was fabulous to see so many of the children overcome difficulties and fears during the day.

Year 4 made a super effort to ‘Brighten up the Harvest’ by dressing up and bringing in donations of food and money.

We had a fabulous time at Go Ape with Year 4 on Friday.

It was wonderful to see so many children overcome their fears and really challenge themselves.  Our aim is to now take some of our new found resilience back into the classroom!
