Year 4 Orienteering at Lake View Park

On Friday afternoon, Year 4 braved the weather (and mud…and puddles) and walked down to Lake View Park to complete an orienteering course.  At first, they definitely underestimated how tricky it would be in comparison to navigating around the school grounds, but eventually become more adept at using the map to find the markers.

It was great fun…and we even made it back in time for the end of the day!  A massive thanks to Mrs Quinn and Mrs Rae for coming out in the rain to join us – and to Mr Youson for driving down earlier in the day to set up the course and then set the children off.

DYM Group E Update

Another lovely day with group E today.  We went on an unaccompanied walk through the forest this morning and after lunch went to the beach to have a play, paddle and ice cream.  I can’t believe that my holiday will be over tomorrow.

Dol-y-Moch Group E

I’m having a lovely holiday here in Wales.  The scenery is breathtaking, the weather is fab and it’s such a great environment to relax and forget about all of the stress back in Coventry.

Aside from that, the children in group E have been having a fantastic time creating lifelong memories.  They really have been super company, great entertainment and we really haven’t had to do a lot at all! What fantastic children you have who are very much demonstrating the three values of Plas Dol-y-Moch: Respect, Responsibility and Resilience.

A really ‘odd’ day

It’s been a really odd day in many ways – but one way in which it has been especially odd is by the children across the school wearing odd socks.  This is part of a national campaign for Anti-Bullying week, and has demonstrated how we’re all different and little odd in our own ways (especially the teachers)!

Year 4 Visit the Cinema

As part of the IntoFilm festival, Year 4 visited the Vue cinema at Star City to watch the UK premier of 2040. It was a climate change film/documentary which explored what life could be like in 2040 if we work together to reverse some of the damage that we have inflicted on our planet.

The children behaved themselves superbly and it was great to have some very deep and meaningful conversations about film afterwards. Upon returning to school, the children wrote reviews of the film which we will be entering into the IntoFilm review competition.

A massive thanks to Mrs Quinn and Mrs Kerry for driving, and also to Mrs Rae and Miss Piercy for joining us!

Year 4 Hike through the Malverns
