Year 4 – Go Ape! – Friday 13th September

By Mr A Cooke9th September 2019

Dear Year 4 parents/carers,

As you are aware, Year 4 are going on their first trip of the year this Friday, to Go Ape! at Coombe Abbey.  On Friday morning, they should arrive at school at the normal time.  They should however come in their school PE tracksuits.  They should also bring with them:

  • A coat or jacket (just in case it is cold or wet)
  • A packed lunch*
  • An additional drink and snack

*Those children who receive free school meals will have a packed lunch provided.  If you usually pay for a school dinner and would like the school to provide a packed lunch, please let the office know by the end of the day tomorrow (Tues 10th Sep) so that the catering staff can ensure that this is ready.

We will be travelling to Go Ape via two minibuses and a car.

Our adventure session at Go Ape is during the morning.  Once we have finished this we will have lunch at Coombe Abbey and complete some additional activities around the country park during the afternoon.  We will return to school for the end of the normal school day.

If you child is nervous/worried about the trip please reassure them that we are going for fun and to challenge ourselves – they will not be forced complete any particular activity!  In all honesty, I’m a little nervous (and excited) too!  Also, if you are yet to pay, please do so via Sims Agora at your earliest convenience.

Kind regards,

Mr A Cooke

For the children in Year 4 who didn’t receive a copy of the clubs letter tonight, it can be downloaded here and should also have been emailed.  Apologies that this didn’t go out as planned.

Year 4

By Mr A Cooke4th September 2019

Had a lovely day with Year 4 today – completing a maths treasure hunt, setting targets for the year ahead, learning a few countries and capital cities, looking at our handwriting and letter families, playing a few different games in PE, choosing and starting our class reading book AND having a little sing song too!

Here are a few photos of  us playing Four Square: a fast and furious playground game.  It got very competitive.

Bring on tomorrow!

Year 3 at the Park

By Mr A Cooke27th June 2019

We had a lovely time with Year 3 at Allesley Park yesterday afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed our transition session.  The children worked well in their teams to complete the 6 challenges that we set – from navigating under ‘electric’ fences, to retrieving nuclear devices from toxic swamps.

As promised, we managed to squeeze a few minutes in on the play area at the end before returning back to school.
