Year 5 ended our week with a lovely class assembly this morning on the theme of St. Valentine.
Through their clearly spoken words, beautiful singing and some fantastic role play (in addition to some rather funky outfits!), they taught us all about why we celebrate this special feast day.
Well done Year 5, Mr Rolison, Miss McGinn, Miss McGaffney and all of our friends and families that were able to join us.
We had so much fun at our Valentine’s Disco singing, dancing and eating the night away!

Year 6 planned and shared a beautiful prayer service for their prayer friends on the theme of St. Valentine.
Year 6 have been comparing and give reasons for variations in how components function, including the on/off position of switches, in Science this week! They’re pretty much qualified electricians now!
Year 6 have been practising their lino cutting skills this week (and the first aid kit was definitely needed!). We are really excited to do our final piece next week!
Today, we were lucky enough to receive a visit from Chris, who works with CAFOD; she came to deliver an assembly about what we can do this year during Lent to help and support the charity. Our Chaplaincy team have already started putting some ideas into place.

There were lots of county swimmers there – and some really strong swimmers who went off like rockets. Our children did so well and were so well behaved despite the long waits and delayed lunchtime!
Year 6 and Year 5 joined together this morning to share in an assembly to promote safe and responsible use of the internet.
Our focus was ‘Free to be me – exploring identity online’.
Through this, we explored how we, as digital citizens, manage our own online identities and considered how the internet shapes how we think of ourselves and others.
We wanted to open up conversations around online identity, so asked children to take a few moments out of their day to enter our very own ‘Diary Room’ and reflect upon some questions surrounding private versus public identities. Here is what they had to say:
Year Six have been working hard researching, designing and practising their printing skills ready to create their final piece on lino.
This week, we will be getting to grips with using the lino tool so please be warned that, although we will try our best to avoid injury, children may come home with some nips and cuts!
Safer Internet Day will be celebrated globally on Tuesday 11th February 2020 with the theme: Together for a better internet.
Year 6 are considering the safe and responsible use of technology, and how they, as digital citizens, can work together to create a better internet for the future.
Today, we explored the differences between online-only friends and face-to-face friends. We then created our own hastags to remind others of the importance of staying safe online.
