Day 1: Canoeing and Beach Scrambling
Day 1: Navigation and Beach Exploration
BBC Children in Need
Today we dressed in yellow and wore spots and donated £1 each to show our support for the charity, BBC Children in Need.
We spent time in the morning exactly how this charity helps those children most in need before writing thank you notes which we are going to post to them to show our appreciation.
Year 6 have been busy in maths today describing and plotting positions on a full co-ordinate grid!
Team Hartwell and Team Quinn got very competitive whilst demonstrating how to play the game before the children partnered up and battled it out to sink eachother’s ships!
Our classroom quickly became very noisy as the children triumphed with their victories and cried when they came under attack but it was great to hear so many co-ordinates being shouted across the tables!
We are absolutely loving our 15 minutes of class reading at the end of every day!
We have just finished our first text – Pig Heart Boy by Malorie Blackman.

Ask the children some questions about it:
After counting up the class votes, we have started our new text – Letters from the Lighthouse by Emma Carroll.

Ask the children:
Today, Year 6 attended Coventry’s Service of Remembrance at the War Memorial Park with the gathered forces, dignitaries and children from other schools across Coventry. During this beautiful service, the children were able to share some of the poems they had recently written and lay a wreath that we had made.
Four days to go!

With just a few days left until the much anticipated trip to DYM, I thought it would be a good idea to send out a few reminders:
Year 6 wore odd socks today to raise awareness of the fact we are all unique and so should celebrate our differences!
Anti-Bullying Week – Odd Socks Day – Tuesday 12th November

This week is Anti-Bullying Week. As a whole school we will be exploring this from many different perspectives. One of these is that we must respect the fact we are all different. To celebrate this, we are joining in Odd Socks Day and inviting children to come to school in odd socks on Tuesday 12th November.
We encourage children to get creative and remember the brighter, the better! They can
be worn over trousers, one long, one short, however you please!
The important thing is that the children think about the fact it is ok to be different and that we should treat each other kindly.
