A big thank you to West Midlands Fire Service who visited Year 4 last week to tell us all about fire safety in the home. The children were thoroughly engaged in what they had to say and the Firemen all commented on how well behaved and courteous the class were.
Please can everyone make sure that they return the ‘999 Safety Book’ before the end of the year so that they can receive their certificate.
We would like to warmly invite you all to our Year 4 steel pans assembly on Friday 7th July at 9:15 where we will showcase what we have been learning in our steel pan lessons this year. The assembly will last for about twenty minutes.

Year 4 will be writing their own autobiographies later this week (Thursday morning). Today, everyone wrote a list of questions about their early life to find some extra information that they can include in their writing.
They are taking these questions home today and it is their homework to find the answers. Please can everyone return their homework by Thursday so they have the information they need to write their autobiography.
If they would also like to bring in photos from key events in their life (baptism, holidays, first day at school), we will try our best to include them in their pieces of work.
I can’t wait to read the autobiographies and learn more about everything in Year 4!

Year 4 said goodbye to one of their classmates today! We wish you all the best in your new school and with all of your new adventures! Keep in touch and don’t forget us!

To learn about Pentecost, Year 4 turned in to reporters and journalists to report on the events!
Here are some of the highlights:
1) Our text types for next half-term are biographies and autobiographies. Over the half-term break, perform some research on a famous person and create a fact-file about them. We will use this information to write their biography. How you present the information you find is up to you. Things you could research include:
2) Keep up your times tables practise by completing at least two of the grids on the time tables sheet. Remember to time yourself and write your time at the top of the sheet. We will be seeing who can move up the leader board in the first week back!
3) Read! The 10 children with the most impressive reading records for the half-term period will receive a prize in the first week back at school!
Unfortunately we have had to postpone the art activity planned for tomorrow (Wednesday 17th May 2017) due to the weather forecast.
Please ensure that children come to school in full school uniform as normal tomorrow.
Apologies for any inconvenience – we hope to rearrange for sometime soon.

Year 4 explored different ways of making complete circuits this afternoon. They worked together to make circuits that included light bulbs, buzzers, motors and switches. Here they are hard at work:
Year 4 and 5 Art – Collage
Year 4 and 5 will be attempting to create a large piece of art work next week (Wednesday 17th May 2017) by using their school uniforms to create a collage. On Wednesday 17th May 2017, please arrange for your child to come to school in non-uniform, with their full school uniform in a separate bag.
Please make sure that all items of the uniform are labelled with your child’s name.
Photos will be posted on the school website and the Year 4/5 blogs.
