And so we come to an end

20th July 2023Lenka Tams

What a wonderful term and fantastic year!

Our last week was filled with excitement and fun as we celebrated – the wedding! The children were beautifully dressed and our wedding party took all their roles seriously. The blushing bride and a very proud father of the bride walked up the aisle to ‘Here comes the bride’. The best man looked after the ring, the groom was nervous and the priest was very reverent. The bridesmaids looked wonderful with their bouquets! After walking out to the wedding march, the party began! Everyone enjoyed themselves with nibbles and cake and dancing!

Myself and Mrs McCloskey are so very proud of all the Nursery children and how they have grown, progressed and achieved. They have grown their wings and are ready to fly onto new things – Reception! We know that they are all more than ready to take on new challenges.

We would like to thank the parents for all the support this year and also to thank you for all the kind words, cards and gifts (although not needed!)

We wish our Nursery all the very best as they move onto Reception, wherever they may go. Well Done Nursery – Keep shining bright!

And so we come to an end

20th July 2023Lenka Tams

What a wonderful term and a fantastic year!

We’ve had an amazing last week with our highlight  – the wedding! The children were beautifully dressed and we had a fantastic celebration after a lovely ceremony. The beautiful bride was given away by a very proud father of the bride. The best man did a great job of looking after the ring. The bridesmaids looked lovely with their bouquets. The priest was very reverent and after walking out to the wedding march, the party began!

Myself and Mrs McCloskey are so very proud of all of the children and how much they have grown, progressed and achieved. They have grown their wings and are ready to fly into Reception – wherever they go.

We thank all our parents for all your support all year and thank you for all the kind words, cards and gifts (though not needed!)

We wish all our children well whichever school they move on to and we know that they are ready to take on the world! Well Done Nursery….Keep shining bright!

Wonderful Wonderland

14th July 2023Lenka Tams

After an amazing full week of learning we finished (almost) our week by having a fantastic day at Wonderland.

Alice met us at the gates and was our personal guide throughout Wonderland all day.

We had so many things to see and do! We saw the fairy village, Snow Whites house & the Wicked Witch, The Three Bears and Goldilocks, the Three Little Pigs and the Wolf, Hansel & Gretels’ Sweet house, Humpty Dumpty, the giant from Jack & the Beanstalk, the Troll, Dinosaurs and so much more!

The children (& some of the adults!) had the opportunity to go on the rides – some of the rides were a bit scary – I had to close my eyes as our brave children went round and round!

Next week we will be celebrating the highlight of the year – the wedding!! On Wednesday we ask for our children to come in their best clothes.

Just one more week of Nursery left – We will miss our grown-up Nursery children when the time comes to say goodbye!

Busy, busy, busy

7th July 2023Lenka Tams

Had an amazing week of learning, (more counting, more traditional tales, learning full, empty & half-full) which was topped off by a fantastic Sports Day!

The children have practised so hard for this day and I’m sure you would agree with us that the children showed their abilities with confidence. We were all so very proud of them.

It was lovely to see all our parents, grandparents and other family members. Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Thank you for all your support!

Counting to 10 and water…again

30th June 2023Lenka Tams

This week in Nursery we have been practicing our counting to 10 and back again. The children have been recognising and counting all the numerals and we have also started to count objects to 10 as well.

During PE we have been practicing our races – a Teddy Bears picnic, a balancing race and a running race. Remember its our Sports Day next Friday 7th July at 10am. We hope you can make it.

We have been painting lots of lovely traditional tale characters again…this week it was Little Red Riding Hood and the wolf!

Our topic of Special celebrations in RE was started off by talking about all the different celebrations we may have with our families, at school or in church. We’re building up to a fabulous event at the end of the year…the wedding!

We finished our week by finding out all about capacity…when is a jug or cup full, half full or empty – the children really impressed us with the knowledge they already had!

Fun, fun, fun in the sun, sun, sun!

23rd June 2023Lenka Tams

We have had lots of fun this week, enjoying the sunshine and dodging the rain!

We have been learning to count to 10, using lots of great games on our interactive whiteboard. We’ve been counting ladybird spots, feeding teddy some cakes and counting underwater creatures.

We looked at all the different characters from the traditional tales we have read – and have produced some fantastic paintings of the 3 little pigs and the 3 bears.

The highlight of our week was our very special visit to church, to celebrate the baptism of baby Teresa Ellie. Fr Paul invited us into church and the children were able to take part in all parts of a real baptism. Fr Paul showed us the font and the water and he baptised baby Teresa Ellie with the water. The proud parents held her in her white shawl and the godparents took their role very seriously while holding the candle. We had a celebration afterwards.

Fr Paul was very impressed with the children’s knowledge and you would ‘ve been very proud of the children’s behaviour in church, as myself and Mrs McCloskey were.

A hot week!

16th June 2023Lenka Tams

What a hot, hot week!

We’ve enjoyed our outdoor area in the sunshine, with fun in the water and sand play. We’ve been watering our plants, which are growing well, but unfortunately our sunflowers were eaten by the squirrels!

We have made invitations to Baby Teresa’s baptism on Thursday, where Fr Paul will invite Nursery into church. The parents and Godparents have a very important job to do – they’ve had a little practice!

We have learnt more about different types of transport – some awesome animals and tremendous trains.

Next week, some more counting and ordering, more traditional tales and of course the very special Baptism – make sure you’re in your best clothes!

Welcome Back!

9th June 2023Lenka Tams

What a wonderful first week back!

Listening to the children’s half term news has been joyous. It sounds like you all have had a really good break. We have started the topic of transport and journeys. There have been some lovely observational drawings – especially of monster trucks!

We have started our new term listening and thinking about traditional tales  – your children might be able to tell you why the same story might be a little different.

We have also started our new topic of Baptism. We would be very grateful if you could send in a picture of your child’s baptism.

Next week we will continue with traditional tales, baptism and also recognising and ordering numbers.

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine!

And just like that, the end of term!

26th May 2023Lenka Tams

Wow! What a busy term we have had!

This week we have focused on rectangles and their properties…thinking about how they are different from squares, even though they have four sides and four corners.

We finished our topic of planting and growing with planting sunflowers….hoping for some beautiful tall flowers soon.

We celebrated Pentecost by having a ‘red’ day, where we tried to move balloons and feathers with just the air. We also made some kites and flew them around in the playground. that was a lot of fun!

Next term, our topic is Transport and journeys, so if you are out and about over half term, please pick up a postcard or a bus ticket to show us where you have been!

Squares, squares, squares

19th May 2023Lenka Tams

This week in Nursery, we have been looking at the properties of squares – how many sides and corners? Also asking the children what was special about a square? Ask the children, they should be able to tell you about those special sides! We looked for squares all around Nursery.

In P.E. we have been practising our throwing skills. We had great fun throwing and matching the bean bags with the correct coloured hoops.

We planted out our beans that have been growing inside, into our troughs outside. We also sowed some carrot seeds. Next week we will be planting sunflower seeds to finish our topic of planting and growing.

We have been thinking about how the Holy Spirit helps us to be kind, helpful and good. We listened to the wind and calmed ourselves with the sound of the wind in the trees.

We finished another busy week by visiting the schools newest members….5 ducklings! We also had our first visit to the trim trail and were very brave trying all the obstacles. Well Done Nursery!

Next week we will be celebrating Pentecost on Thursday, so it will be ‘wear it red day’ – anything red would be wonderful.
