Today we went and picked our potatoes that we planted in the Spring. The children used trowels to dig in the allotment and collect the potatoes. It was great fun and we will enjoying eating them for our dinner!
Dear parents/carers,
Tomorrow we are going to pick the potatoes which we planted in Spring. The Walled Garden have kindly said we can keep the potatoes, therefore please could you provide your child with a plastic bag to bring them back in.
Many thanks,
Miss Clarke 🙂
Today we went to church to look for symbols! We found water, pictures of a dove and lamb, crucifixes and lots more. Then Fr Paul told us what the symbols meant. The children were well behaved and loved looking around the church.
We have had great fun this week in Year 2,
We used natural resources to make water filters in Forest School. Well done to Martha and Edward for getting the cleanest water! Then we made another one to see if we could get it even clearer!
In Science we have been learning about how we can change materials by stretching and twisting.
Have a great weekend,
Miss Clarke
We started off our new Maths unit this week by collecting data! We learnt how to use tally charts and asked our friends questions like ‘What is your favourite animal?’ and ‘What is your favourite food?’.
Next week we will learn how to read and draw pictograms and block diagrams.
Have a great weekend!
Miss Clarke
This week in Year 2, we have been learning about how to write a newspaper! We looked at examples and spotted features so we can write our own.
In PE, we started practicing our athletics skills ready for a competition in June!
In RE, we have been learning about Jesus’ resurrection and learning about how to be a good friend.
We have also looked at telling the time to the nearest 15 minutes as well as telling time ‘past’ the hour so it would be great if you practiced this at home this weekend!
Last Tuesday we visited another school to sing songs with lots of children. A big thank you to Mrs Cooke who has helped us to learn the songs. The children were brilliant and had a great time. We even got to play on their playground and had a biscuit in between.
Today as part of our Catholic ‘to serve’ duty, we went to the Walled Garden in Allesley Park to plant potatoes. We will return in 10 weeks to dig them up.
Finally, thank you to parents who came to our Mothers’ Day lunch. We hope you had a lovely time!
Have a great Easter break,
Miss Clarke x
We started off World Book Day week by visiting the library on Monday! The children were so well behaved and enjoyed choosing a book to read,
In English this week, we have been learning how to use apostrophes for possession and reading stories to identify features. We found conjunctions, expanded noun phrases and suffix words.
On Tuesday we went to church to learn more about the symbols of Baptism. We have written about these in our RE books as part of our ‘Special Celebrations’ unit.
And during our show and tell session, Sophia bought in this poster about space and told us about a new planet. Thanks, Sophia!
