We loved using autumn leaves to make pieces of artwork in Year 2! We used animals as our inspiration and created parts of their bodies with the leaves we collected from the playground.

We’ve had another busy week in Year 2 – working hard but having lots of fun as usual! Here we are representing numbers with tens and ones in a maths lesson.
Our week concluded with a wonderful celebration of 50 years of our school. We went to mass and then had the privilege of welcoming Mrs Lee into our classroom, who taught in our classroom 50 years ago!

I can’t believe we have already done three weeks in Year 2: it is flying by already! This week has been another busy one! We have been working hard on our place value knowledge and writing numbers to 100 in Maths and have been focusing on our sentence structure and punctuation in English. We have looked at the four countries that make up the UK in Geography and started our materials topic in Science. Perhaps our messiest lesson this week was our Art lesson, where we explored hot and cold colours – getting most of the paint on our hands by the looks of the pictures!
Year 2 started off their new Science topic today by searching for different materials, in and outside the classroom. They looked at different objects, the materials they were made from and considered reasons why this material suited its job. Here they are in action!
Year 2 enjoyed a jam packed day of activities today for the launch of our new topic: fire. We learnt that fire can be useful but also dangerous, and that we must learn to protect ourselves against its dangers to stay safe. We practised a fire drill, completed some flames artwork and enjoyed a visit from the fire brigade. We hope you like our head bands that we made for the occasion!
!

Thank you for such a wonderful year Year 5! It’s been a blast and you should all be so proud of how far you have come. Thank you parents for all your lovely cards and gifts today. Have a happy and safe summer break.
Here are some pictures of us enjoying our party!
I have got several pairs of black leggings left over from the play, all with no name in. If you think they are your child’s, please tell them to come and have a look at them in the Year 5 classroom. I will keep them until the end of term before donating them.
Thank you.
Tomorrow is our trip to Waterworld!
Here are some final reminders for you. Please ensure that:
We are due to arrive back to school at 3:15pm but please, as always, keep an eye on the website for any updates regarding traffic.
Many thanks,
Mrs Hartwell and Miss Frearson
