Hello and wecome everyone to our Nursery blog!  What a great start the children have made to Nursery life. This half term is all about settling the children into Nursery, ensuring the children are happy and building up relationships with each other. There have been a few tears and wobbles which is perfectly normal but already these have decreased over just a few short days – children come in with different levels of experience, confidence and of course different personalities which we embrace. The children have enjoyed making new friends this week and exploring our inside and outside areas. Thank you if you have brought in an ‘All about me’ poster – we have loved looking at them and there is still plenty of time to do one with your child this half term. Next week we will be starting P.E so the children will need a pair of pumps in their P.E box for Tuesday and soon we will be going on a Creation Walk around the school grounds for R.E so they will also need a pair of wellies in their box. During the next couple of weeks while we are settling the children into Nursery, if you need to talk to us about your child in the morning could you please wait until all the children have come into Nursey so we are free to greet and welcome everyone at the door. We are also available to talk to you after the Nursery session or you can always give us a call. Thank you for all of your support this week and have a great weekend everyone!

Hello Everyone, and…goodbye!

Well we can’t believe we are at the end of the year in Nursery. We have had a lovely last week; the children loved their trip over to Coundon Wedge on Tuesday and we dug up our potatoes and cooked and ate them on Wednesday – delicious! This week we have also made jelly and decorated biscuits for snack time. Thank you so much for all of your support; we have had a brilliant time and the children have been a joy to work with – they are amazing! Thank you for all of your kind words, presents and cards. Sadly some of our children are going to new schools in September so we wish them all the best in their new Reception classes. Have a great Summer everyone!

Hello Everyone,

We have been continuing our under the sea theme this week, reading stories and finding out information through videos about sea creatures. The children have also been making play dough octopuses and jelly fish and pratising counting and fine motor skills related to this theme. Unbelievably, next week it is our last week in Nursery so we are looking forward to having  fun on our trip to Coundon wedge and we will also be digging up our potatoes, cooking and eating them along with some other goodies. What a beautiful sunny week it’s been. This week we have been making sea creatures and jelly fish and practising our running and obstacle races for Sports Day. I have added the photos from the Sea Life Centre at the bottom of the page. Hopefully our last few weeks in Nursery will continue to be sunny so could you send your child to Nursery with a sun hat and with sun cream already applied. We have had a brilliant time at the Sea Life Centre today – the children were fantastic and they saw lots of different sea creatures. Photos from our trip will be posted next week. This week we have also viited our New Reception class and we went exploring in our school forest area. Next Friday afternoon is Sports Day and I have sent a letter home explaining the arrangements for this. The children should sleep very well tonight! Our children have loved role play in our ice-cream parlour over the last couple of weeks. We thought it would be great if we could have a real ice-cream parlour, so if the children didn’t eat their dinner today – apologies,as they had fun making and eating thier own ice-cream sundaes at snack time. This week we have also set up our seaside area and have been making collage fish for our display. Don’t forget we are going on our trip to the sea life centre next Friday – I will send a letter out next week with more details. Have a good weekend!

Hello Everyone,

What a wet end to the week – but despite this we still managed to do a lot of learning outside. The children were so excited to see how well our plants and flowers have grown over the half term break. Some of the children have done beautiful paintings of flowers which have been put up on our Summer display. This week we have also been talking about holidays and the beach and we will continue this theme for the rest of the term. Have a good and hopefully not too wet weekend.

A big ‘well done’ to our Nursery children for their assembly with Reception class on Wednesday – they sang beautifully! There was also great excitement on Wednesday because we had a visit from the fire brigade. The children had great fun sitting in the fire engine and aiming the water hose at the cones. Have a great half term break and we will see you back at Nursery on Tuesday 4th June.

We have been busy looking after our plants this week. In maths we have been thinking of ways that we can measure giant foot prints. For the first time this week Nursery have also changed into their full P.E kit with only a little help from adults – so well done children!
