We had great fun on Friday afternoon dancing in the hall to the music and disco lights. It was thirsty work so we had a break half way though to have a snack and a drink. We have some children with very good rhythm and dance routines!
Next week we are counting irregular objects and designing posters for the cinema. We would be grateful if you have any toilet rolls we could have, we would like to use them for an activity in the class.
Reception will be taking part in non uniform day this Monday.
We ended half term with a party to celebrate the life of our class saint, Saint Teresa of Calcutta. We made a model of St Teresa and talked about how she dedicated her life to others. Thank you for supporting your child to give up a toy to help raise money to help others in need. They were taken to Myton Hospice Charity shop who were very grateful. We held a prayer service to pray for those people who are not as fortunate as us and then shared our party food. Below are some photographs of the day.

We have been exploring our class Saint. We watched a video of Saint Teresa and talked about the good work she did. We decided we are going to be thoughtful and kind just like her.
We have been looking at rhyme and completing rhyming strings. In PE we have been exploring how to travel across the floor. We ran, jumped, skipped and rolled
Please remember that Friday is our Saint’s celebration day and we will be having a party and wearing non-uniform.
Well done to Dhilan, Darragh and William who planned, prepared and delivered a lovely prayer service to the rest of Year 6 and their prayer friends in Reception.
They focused on the first sorrowful mystery: The Agony in the Garden.
“Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, ‘Sit here, while I go yonder and pray.” (Mt 26:36-39)
This prayer service taught us all that the Sorrowful Mysteries cover the events of Holy Thursday, after the Last Supper, through the Crucifixion of Christ on Good Friday, Each mystery is associated with a particular fruit, or virtue, which is illustrated by the actions of Christ and Mary in the event commemorated by that mystery. While meditating on the mysteries, we also pray for those fruits or virtues. The virtue most commonly associated with the mystery of the Agony in the Garden is acceptance of Gods will.
The whole school joined together in the hall this afternoon to share in ‘A Time of Prayer’ live streamed with Archbishop Bernard Longley.
We prayed the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary using a Mission Rosary, and also marked the Feast Day of Blessed John Henry Newman.

Thank you for coming to the Welcome Mass this morning. It was lovely to see so many of you there supporting the children. Their art work was bright and cheerful and their singing great. We had a busy week counting and matching objects, building, painting and model making. 
We also have been looking at how and why we use Rosary beads and thinking about what we can do to be generous and giving out in the community.
Well done to Isla, Bridget and Simeon who planned, prepared and delivered a very informative and prayerful collective worship with Reception to teach them about October: the month of the Holy Rosary. Year 6 helped their prayer friends to write a prayer on the petal of a rose before adding them to a vase of holy water. We asked Mary our Mother to intercede on our behalf before the Lord God and send our prayers to Heaven. All of the Reception children did so well praying the words of the Hail Mary and we all joined together as we sang Hail Holy Queen.
The children have had great fun this week exploring our new area of the classroom, our Finger Gym. This area has been set up to strengthen their hands to make writing a little easier. Activities will change weekly.
We have been looking at how to label in literacy and this will carry on next week. In mathematics we have been ordering by length and height.
In our RE lessons this week we have been thanking God for our wonderful world. We have collected some of the things God created in our environment and have started to use art and craft to make a display of the creation story.
PE – Help needed
Please will you take some time to help your child learn how to get dressed and undressed. We struggled to get ready for PE and getting dressed afterwards took so long we missed out next lesson. We do not mind helping to turn clothes the correct way round or doing top buttons up but we do not have enough time to take jumpers and shirts off nearly every child. Thank you for your support in this.
Reception will be taking part in the colours for CAFOD this Friday. Children can wear their most colourful clothes, the brighter the better!
Please can all children (mainly Y1 to Y6) bring in an old long sleeve over-sized T-Shirt or button through shirt to wear during art classes. Please ensure they are named. Any spares you may have would be appreciated!
