We had a very busy week. We made Kipper’s Cake (YUK!) and also followed a recipe to make a real cake (YUMMY!). We went on the bus to town and visited the shoe shop. They made us very welcome and we found out lots of things about shoes and our feet. In mathematics we have been looking at 2d shapes. We also had a lovely prayer service with our Year 6 prayer friends.
Year 6 joined their prayer friends in Reception today to share in a class liturgy.
Thank you to Emily, Maddy & Roisin who spent time planning and preparing this special time of prayer, which not only helped their prayer friends to understand more about their theme of ‘Prayer’ but also encouraged them to become involved in sharing their ideas, questions and prayers.
Well done to all of Reception who sat and listened beautifully!
We have been busy practising recognising and ordering numbers. We used shapes to make pictures and sorted b and d onto the correct grid. We had our first dance lesson and enjoyed lunch in the dinner hall. On Friday we met our prayer friends and spent time outdoors getting to know them. Next week we are looking forward to our visit to the Shoe shop.
Year 6 and Reception joined together this afternoon to find out who their prayer friends are. They had lots of fun spending time playing and getting to know each other!
We hope that by providing Reception children with a Year 6 prayer friend, they will have that extra layer of support and comfort as they get to know another familiar face. Year 6 are then there to look after them on the playground when necessary, talk to them about school, and accompany them to Mass, modelling how to behave and engage in prayer. Being a Prayer Friend is something which all children love and take very seriously – many long term friendships have begun from Prayer Friends.
The children are doing well settling into school life and we are very pleased with them. We have however had a few toilet accidents. This is often when children have been playing and left it a little too late. This is not a problem but could we ask that you place a spare pair of pants, socks and a skirt or trousers in your child’s P.E. box so that they can have their own clothes on. Thank you for your support in this.
In our RE lesson this week the children acted out the story of the feeding of the five thousand. After this they wrote the story and illustrated their work. In mathematics we have been problem solving and this has proved a little tricky, we will be continuing this next week.
Thank you for the photographs and heights of the sunflowers we are looking at them over the weekend and will decide a winner on Monday.
We have a busy week ahead with leaving assemblies, award ceremonies and Mass and ending with a party on Friday. The children are invited to wear a costume that makes them look like a toy for our toys party. They can bring in a favourite toy but please no electronic toys that may be damaged.

Thank you to everyone who supported our Book Fair earlier this year. With the funds raised, we have been able to buy new books for each classroom from Nursery to Year 6! These books will be shared with the children by teachers to promote reading for pleasure and to support their learning.

We were absolutely delighted with the support that we received, and know that the children will cherish sharing these stories with their teachers.
We will also be buying books to support the wider curriculum, so thank you!
