Yesterday the Year 5/6 football team played their first game of the season against Christ the King School.

Everyone started the game in great spirits and either team could have taken the lead however it was Christ the King who struck first as they pounced on a mistake and finished well. The second goal came shortly after, this time it was a wonderful goal from Christ the Kings midfielder.

The game then could have swung back in our favor as we created a host of good chances, unfortunately though they scored a third goal on the break and that is how the game ended.

A super game from everyone and a performance we can be proud of. Well played boys!

Player of the Match: Harry (Y5)

On Thursday 12 children from Year 4 – 6 took part in the Catholic Cross Country Relays. The girls, who were all Year 4 children, ran first and finished in a very respectable 7th place. The boys, who had an ‘A’ and a ‘B’ team running, finished in 5th place in the ‘A’ race and 3rd place in the ‘B’ race. Well done to everyone who took part.

The Year 5/6 football team played their final league game of the season yesterday against St Mary and St Benedict’s School. Yet again the weather wasn’t very kind to us as it poured down from start to finish. This didn’t affect the players though as they put in a very good hard fought performance. Unfortunately though St Mary and St Benedict’s, who only need one more victory to finish league winners, were slightly to strong for us and came away with a deserved victory. This however was one of the best performances of the season, hopefully they will be able to carry this form into the upcoming rally later next month.

Well played everyone who competed in the season and good luck in the rally.

Yesterday over 20 children from Year 4,5, and 6 took part in the annual Coventry Catholic Schools Cross Country Competition.

The girls raced first and finished in 5th place overall with Josie and Bridget crossing the line first for All Souls in 11th and 15th place respectively.

The boys raced next and finished two places better in 3rd. Lorcan and Kai led the way this time finishing in 5th and 7th.

All the children ran superbly especially as they ran on the hottest day of the year so far. I will put a full results table on the website as soon as I receive it.

Due to a waterlogged pitch the scheduled match against Wyken Croft School tomorrow has been cancelled. We did try to rearrange the fixture to play it at their school however they have the same problem. The game will hopefully take place later this month. Sorry for any inconvenience this causes.

Yesterday 10 children from Year 1 and 2 took part in the School Games KS1 Gymnastics Competition at Tribe. This is the first year we have taken part in this competition and was a great experience for the children.

Over the last 3 or 4 weeks they have been practicing 2 routines, 1 floor and 1 vault. This dedication really paid off as the school finished in 2nd place overall with 112.3 points.

The children were a credit to the school, performing and behaving fantastically. Well done everyone.

Thank you to all the parents that managed to get their children here early on Friday mornings to practice, it was a huge help. As the children enjoyed the club we are hoping to add it to our list of clubs shortly.

16 lucky children from Year 4,5 and 6 had the opportunity to take part in a Rugby Experience Day on Saturday thanks to Coventry Rugby Club. The children had a tour of the ground, met the players, performed the guard of honor and played a game at half time. They all had a fantastic time and and were great representatives of the school.

Children in KS2 had a terrific time today as they tried fencing for the first time. Children learnt all aspects of the Olympic sport from being a fencing athlete to being an official referee. Safety was paramount throughout the day as they had to wear all the correct equipment before they were allowed to participate.

As the children were so keen and enjoyed it immensely there will hopefully be a new fencing club starting in the new year. Please keep an eye out on the clubs letters for this as there will be very limited spaces available.

On Tuesday the Y5/6 football team played their first game of the season against St Thomas More. It was a highly competitive game that ended 2 -2, a fair result on reflection.

The team started slowly and although they played some nice football saw themselves 2 nil down at half time.

After a quick pep talk the children reacted well and thanks to goals from Connor and Zach we were level at 2-2 just 2 minutes after the start of the second half. The game could then have gone either way with both sides having chances to win it late on.

Well played everyone it was a great game and a fantastic start to the season.
