Netball Match Vs St. Osburgs

Well done to the All Souls Netball team who played their first match of the season against St. Osburgs at home tonight. The match was evenly fought which was reflected in the final score of 2-2.

Thank you to the team of Year Six players: Aila, Michael, Lily, Connor, Julia and Caleb. Every one worked hard throughout and for half of these players it was their first ever match. Congratulations to Aila for being a great captain and for being named as our player of the match by St. Osburgs. Thank you also to the two members of staff from St. Osburgs for umpiring the match.

Our next game is against St. Augustine’s, at home, next Tuesday.

Sports Afternoon

Thankfully the weather held out for our sports day today and the children had a great time competing in both the novelty and sprint races.

Congratulations to everyone who took part (including the teachers and parents) and thanks to all the children, including three past students Issy, Sophie and Kelsey, who helped setup the obstacle courses and give out awards.

Aila from Year 5 took lots of photos throughout the afternoon (233 to be precise) so there are plenty for you to look at below.

Year 5 Cricket

Year 5 cricket team had a great time at Corley Cricket Club today. They played some great cricket scoring lots of runs and taking plenty of wickets resulting in them finishing in fourth place. Well done! – next tournament is on Tuesday 20th June at The Standard Cricket Club.

Cross Country Relay

On Saturday 4 boys and 3 girls took part in the Coventry Schools Cross Country Relay Competition. It didn’t start off great as there should’ve been 4 girls in the race,  unfortunately one of them had to drop out due to injury. This meant that the girls couldn’t compete in the race competitively, however thanks to the kindness of a girl from St John Vianney School we did manage to take part. Ebony joined our team to enable them to race non-competitively. They all tried their best and managed to complete the race. Well done girls

The boys race was always going to be a tough race as most of the team were from Year 4 and would be competing mainly against Year 6 children. Therefore I gave them the challenge to finish in the top 15. They were all up for this and gave everything on their way round the course and when Kai took the final leg it was a nervous wait to see where they had finished. Incredibly they managed to finish in 14th position which was a great achievement for them. Congratulations boys!

On Thursday more children from the school will be taking part in the Catholic Cross Country Event, we wish them good luck on their way round the 2000m course.

Dol-y-Moch Mile

Yesterday over 65 children and adults from our school took part in the Dol-y-Moch mile as part of the Coventry Half Marathon. For the last 6 weeks children taking part have been coming to school early to run approximately 2 miles, meaning they had completed 12 miles of the 13 mile half marathon. Yesterday was their final mile, everyone had a great time completing it and were rewarded with a medal and water bottle at the end.

Thank you to all the adults who came along to run with the children, without your help we would not have been able to run.

This is the start of the race, we have a couple of children at the very start who were eager to get away early however most of the children can be seen at around 1 minute 20.
