This week Year One have enjoyed taking their learning outside.
We have been learning about pairs and how to count in 2’s.
We loved seeing how far we could count up in 2’s – some of us made it all the way to 146!

Year One have been hard at work preparing for our teddy bear fundraiser to raise money this Lent for Zoe’s Place. They created posters to advertise, folded up all of the raffle tickets and set up a stall.
Together we raised just under £100!
Well done Year One for your hard work and thank you to everyone that donated!
This afternoon we loved learning about monarch butterflies. We looked at their beautiful patterns and learnt all about symmetry. We then had a go at creating our own symmetrical butterflies and they turned out fantastically!
Year One have been detectives this week, searching for signs of Spring. We really enjoyed exploring our school environment and had lots of great discussion about what we had observed.
We’re pleased to announce that All Souls is introducing a new, more efficient and secure system for reporting your child’s absence due to illness, called Studybugs. Over the next few weeks we will be moving from our online Google From based absence reporting to StudyBugs and after the Easter holidays, the current form and link will be removed.
We are therefore asking all parents to download the free Studybugs app, or register on the Studybugs website, and use it to tell us whenever your child’s ill and unable to attend school. In school, over the same period, we will be moving from taking paper registers each day to doing so electronically.
Get the app or register now (https://studybugs.com/about/parents)
Thank you,
All Souls Catholic Primary School
Top 3 reasons to use Studybugs
1. It’s integrated with our systems so we know right away if your child is unaccounted for.
2. It’s quick and easy to register and use and automatically reminds you to keep us posted.
3. You’ll be helping the NHS and other public health organisations improve children’s health. (https://studybugs.com/about/schools)
Year One loved having a surprise VIP guest this afternoon who came in to read them a story. The children were buzzing with anticipation of who their VIP guest might be.
A massive thank you to Mrs Cannon who read us a beautiful story!
If you, or someone you know, would like to be our next VIP guest and read the children a story on a Friday afternoon, please drop me an email. I would love to hear from you!
This term, Year 1 are learning all about different types of weather and seasons. We were so excited to see some surprise snowfall whilst learning about seasons and enjoyed playing with our friends.
We are so excited to welcome our children and their grown ups to our All Souls Reading Cafe tomorrow to share a story, drink and treat! Don’t forget to reserve your seat!
This afternoon the children have been practising their skills on word. They have been practising their typing skills by creating their own sentences and, experimenting with using different fonts and colours.
This afternoon in Year One we learnt all about Saint Valentine. We then made some art inspired by Kandinsky. We worked really hard on our brush control to create some beautiful patterns. After that, we made cards for the people that we love and thanked God for having these people in our lives.
