What a wonderful week learning and fun. Basic life skills such as sewing, first aid and picking home grown vegetables. Then inflatable and forest school fun. Just to sum up a wonderful year. Thank you for being fantastic Year 4! Have a restful, safe and joyous summer holidays!
We kick started the summer term off this week with a trip to the Lunt Roman Fort, linked to our learning in our recent history topic. Both the children and adults thoroughly enjoyed the jam-packed day of activities. We learnt so much more to add to our knowledge of Roman history. We were able to get hands on with primary artefacts and even had a real-life Roman battle! We were very proud of how Year 4 were such great ambassadors for the school; showing polite attitudes, in-depth knowledge and confidence in the subject area, great listening skills and working fantastically as a team!
We had the pleasure of visiting the local allotments to plant the first crop of potatoes and onions. We also got to use the rotavator machine to break up the earth and get it ready for more planting. We learnt so much with a little fun added in along the way too. Thank you again to Roger and Mrs McGaffney for organising another great learning opportunity. We can’t wait to go back later in the summer to check on the success of our planting!
What a spectacular Easter Performance of ‘Risen’ by the Year 4 children, supported by Year 3, full of love and joy! The children were all absolute super stars and should each be very proud of their performances. Every child led with confidence and charisma. The singing, as always for All Souls children, was outstanding- who would have known we had so many talented vocalists who gave it their all in their soloist parts. Thank you to all of the parents and carers for their support as always. Lines were learnt perfectly- with the hard work and help of adults at home I am sure- we are truly grateful. We are super proud of our Year 4 Team!
Year 4 had a fantastic trip to Coombe Abbey. The sun was shining and the river levels were low enough for us to take part in the full workshop including wading in the review to carry out different geographical enquiries and pond dipping, where we found a huge range of insects. We enjoyed our lunch in the sunshine before spending some well deserved time playing in the park. Well done Year 4! You were great ambassadors for All Souls.
Year 4 had an action-packed afternoon, learning about fire, water and road safety in an age-related workshop delivered by local operational firefighters. We learnt about the risks and causes of fire, smoke alarms, fire escape plans, fire survival skills- including the ‘Stop, Drop and Roll’ technique, emergency calls, staying safe when using roads both on foot and in a car as well as water safety, especially around open water such as lakes and rivers. I am sure that the children will be keen to share some of the facts learnt at home. As always Year 4 demonstrated great listening skills and thoughtful contributions to discussion.
Well done Year 4!

Year 4 had a fantastic trip to the Think Tank Museum. We learnt lots of facts about all sorts of scientific topics from wildlife and the human body to space travel and steam powered engines. The children had lots of fun watching explosive scientific experiments in the Christmas Show before burning off some energy whilst playing with their friends in the science garden. We got through so much in the time that we were there and the feedback from the children is that they would definitely like to return!
On Tuesday evening, our amazing dance team took to the stage at the Albany Theatre to take part in Gotta Dance Coventry 2025. The girls have been practising their two routines every Tuesday morning with Miss Jade, and all their hard work and dedication really paid off. Their performance was absolutely spectacular!
For many of the girls, this was their first time taking part in the event and, for some, their very first time performing on stage — but you would never have known. They were confident, professional, and full of energy from start to finish.
A huge thank you goes to Miss Jade from Elite Dance Academy for her time, creativity, and enthusiasm in preparing the team so brilliantly.
Well done, girls!
You were incredible, and we are already looking forward to next year’s show, which will take place on Thursday 26th November.
