The children in Year 6 proudly represented our school in Coventry’s Remembrance Service today.
Well done to Grace, Joachim and Anaiya who read their poem in front of the cenotaph beautifully, loud and clear.

The children in Year 6 will be attending Coventry Schools Service of Remembrance on Wednesday 6th November 2024 at 10.30am.

Please can all children wear a coat, and sensible footwear as we will be walking to and from the War Memorial Park. Parents, carers or other family members are welcome to join us there should you wish to.
The Battle is well and truly underway between our house groups on
Times Tables Rockstars!
Although this has been set as homework for Key Stage 2 children, children in Key Stage 1 are also more than welcome to join in. This is a house group effort and all those who have contributed to the winning team’s score will receive extra play time after the competition has closed.

Thank you to everyone who came along to support our Commitment Mass on Sunday. It was wonderful to see so many of our children and families, along with our parish, reverently make their intention and commitment before God to continue their spiritual journey.
Please see below a copy of the information leaflet regarding the Sacrament of Confirmation 2025 that children should have brought home with them. This year, Father Paul has streamlined the process of distributing and submitting forms. Application forms can be collected from the sacristy at Mass. Completed application forms should be returned to Father Paul at Mass before Friday 1st November 2024. Should you need to contact Father Paul, please email: [email protected]
Unfortunately, we do not yet have a date for Confirmation and whilst we understand that this is difficult for those of you who may wish to invite family from overseas or if the children have someone in mind for their sponsor that may need a little more notice, this date is at the discretion of the Bishop and all we can do is wait for a date to be allocated. Please rest assured that once we know we will of course let you know.
On Wednesday 9 children from Years 5 and 6 took part in a Hado Tournament. Hado is a new virtual AR sport that is similar to dodgeball. The children were split into 3 teams and competed against 5 other schools during the afternoon. All the children represented the school brilliantly showing great sportsmanship and respect throughout the day. One of the teams (George, Fintan and Lauren) were so good they won the competition meaning they will return in the champion of champions final later in the year. Well done everyone.
The video below was created by James (Y5) during computer club using Canva.
The children in Key Stage 2 were lucky enough to enjoy a visit from Vicki and Tenisha from Be Internet Legends by Google to teach them all about how to become Internet Legends!
The interactive event taught us to be safer, more confident online explorers, whilst having fun along the way! The skills and behaviours we learnt will help us to navigate our online lives – helping us to learn to be Sharp, Alert, Secure, Kind and Brave.
Here is the game they mentioned you can play at home: https://beinternetawesome.withgoogle.com/en_uk/interland
Year 6 LOVED their virtual author visit from multi-award winning bestselling author, Hannah Gold for the official launch of her highly anticipated new book TURTLE MOON. This thrilling new illustrated animal adventure for children follows other fantastic books such as The Last Bear, Finding Bear and The Lost Whale – all books are must-reads!
The children (and staff!) in Year 6 were very excited when Mrs Smith hand-delivered us a fantastic selection of books which will become our class readers which we read for pleasure at the end of every day! We know how much hard work and generosity goes into fundraising and we appreciated it that little bit more this week when we saw these pennies and pounds turn into books!
Attention Year 6 Families and Friends (and Famous People?)
Would you like to become one of our VIP Readers?
Once a month, we invite someone new into our classroom (either in person or virtually) as our VIP reader. This month we enjoyed a session with Hannah Gold, author of ‘Turtle Moon’, ‘The Last Bear’, ‘Finding Bear’ and ‘The Lost Whale’. Next month, it could be you!
Our aim is for children to be exposed to different reading voices, different text choices and have the opportunity to find out more about other people’s reading experiences, preferences, recommendations and advice whilst also bringing a even more excitement and enjoyment into our reading time.
All you need to do is choose an extract of your choice (this could be from your favourite childhood book, a recent news article, a poem, something original or something from the Bible!) and turn up on your selected date at 2.50pm. You will have the opportunity to spend 10-15 minutes sharing this extract with the class before allowing them 5 minutes to ask you some questions. This is a complete surprise to the children on the day as they love the reveal of who is behind the book!
The dates still available for the rest of the year are listed below: if you, or someone you know (the more famous the better 😉 ) would be interesting in being a VIP reader for Year 6, please email me.
Thanks,
Mrs Hartwell
