Last week was a great week for our sports teams. First we hosted a girls football tournament on Tuesday with 8 Catholic Schools taking part. The girls played magnificently all afternoon and managed to win their group and get through to the knockout stages. They played St Thomas More in the semi-final and thanks to a wonderful goal from Keavy and some terrific saves by Emma managed to win the game 1-0 and progress to the final. We played the pre-tournament favourites Christ the King in the final, they were a fantastic team and unfortunately beat us quite comfortably. The girls played very well and to win a silver medal and finish second place is a great achievement. Well done girls!
On Friday a mixture of boys and girls from Years 5 and 6 took part in a Gaelic Football tournament. Just like the girls on Tuesday the team played fantastically and won all their group games to finish top of the group and go through to the final against Christ the King. This was a very tough game and although they gave their all it was Christ the King who were once again victorious. 2nd place again and another silver medal great effort everyone.
Unfortunately I didn’t get any pictures of the girls football.
