Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope that you and your families are safe and well and that you have been able to rest and enjoy the sunshine over the last few days.  We are writing to you, as promised, to keep you updated on the preparation for the planned wider reopening of All Souls.

It is with great regret that we need to inform you that All Souls will not be ready for wider reopening during the week beginning 1st June, despite our best and determined efforts to do so.  This is a decision that we felt was necessary to make today, so that families are informed early enough to make any necessary arrangements.  We will, however, continue to provide childcare from Monday 1st June for the existing children of key workers, whom were in attendance prior to half-term.  Next week, we are unable to increase our capacity for new key worker children so that as many staff are available to support bubbles of children potentially from 8th June.

We are deeply saddened to not be ready for wider reopening as we really wanted to be amongst the first group of schools to do so, in order to begin to restore our school community.  Over the last few days, with the help of some dedicated staff members who have given up their half-term, we have worked tirelessly to begin to put into place measures to ensure that the site, procedures and protocols necessary to keep our children and staff safe are in place.  This has included significant rearrangement of classrooms, the removal of furniture from large parts of the site, new signage and markings throughout the internal and external areas of the building as well as the purchase and installation of addition equipment and resources to meet strict government guidelines.  In addition, we are continuing to work our way through a very complex and rigorous risk assessment and this is taking an overwhelming amount of time.  There are a number of layers to the risk assessment process and these must all be complete before we can submit it to the various authorities for scrutiny and approval.

We hope you understand the position that we find ourselves in and that during these unprecedented times, safely is the overriding, dictating factor and will continue to be so.  Please do be reassured though, that we are continuing to work very hard so that we can reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.

Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding.  We will continue to keep you updated.

Kind regards,

Mrs C Quinn & Mr A Cooke
