Well done to our two class Superstars this week, Julia for working hard in maths and
Jack-Dean for great progress in reading.
All the children have worked very hard this week and we are very proud of them.
In this weeks ‘spelling quiz’ more children achieved full marks and we are on our way to each child spelling all their words correctly!
For some children homework will be more detailed, with a revisit to previous spellings and using them in sentence construction. Please support your child with their homework.
Each day we see the children growing in confidence and independence. They are taking greater responsibility for leading the daily routines within the classroom, leading prayers, handing out books, sorting equipment and looking after the environment.
This week will be the ‘big reveal’ of classroom monitors and assigned jobs. The children have shown great enthusiasm for helping and tidying and some ‘jobs’ are in great demand!
Who knew tidying the cloakroom would be so interesting!
We completed our maths work on shape this week with a shape hunt around the school grounds. The children were very enthusiastic and found lots of different 2D and 3D shapes.
In English they became noun and verb detectives identifying verbs and nouns in text, then using them in writing.
On parents evening a large number of parents raised the issue of their child’s listening and attention skills when at home.
True listening is an essential life skill and particularly at school. As a result we have been working on a whole class programme of listening games and activities.
Tuesday 18th October 2016 Years 1 and 2 class mass is at 9.15am please join us if you can.
So as we begin our final week of the half term I would like to thank you for your continued support.
