Year 1 enjoyed a visit to Coventry Cathedral as part of their History – The Blitz. The class made history themselves by being the first class to use the school minibus. Once we had arrived at the Cathedral we sat down to watch a short film all about The Coventry Blitz.

We split off into groups to explore the Cathedral with our guides Phil and Ron. We were taken into the Unity Chapel, the old ruins, the museum – school – the living room – the anderson shelter, looked at the Baptismal Window and font. After lunch we involved in activities including sketching the huge glass angels and saints from the main window, designing a mosaic pattern and finally ‘packing’ our evacuee suitcase.

The children learnt a great deal from the visit and we are pleased to report that they were very well behaved! Well done Year 1
