Year 6 Half-Term Homework

The half-term homework is for children to produce two pieces of writing. These can be handwritten or typed up and printed off (or emailed to me at [email protected]).

The children are familiar with a list of different writing elements/features (a copy of this list can be downloaded here). It is important that they aim to include as many of these as they can in their writing. However, not all of these will be relevant to both pieces of writing.

Task 1

Write a formal letter to their secondary school. This should be laid out in the correct formal format and can include an introduction of who they are, what they are looking forward to about secondary school and any questions they may have.

An annotated example can be downloaded here.

Task 2

Write a set of instructions for a task of their choice. For example: how to operate a piece of computer software, how to play their favourite game, how to make their favourite recipe, how to play a musical instrument.

An annotated example can be downloaded here.

Work should be handed in or emailed to me by the second day back after half-term.
