Year 6 began to write up the results from their investigation into microorganisms today. After carefully observing the changes to the different slices of bread over time, they have recorded their results in a table and written a description of how each piece of bread has changed.

Homework task:

As a homework task, Year 6 have been asked to research what caused these changes to the bread. Here are some factors to consider:

– The amount of air exposed to the bread

– What conditions do microorganisms like best to multiply?

– Why did some of the bread dry out so much?

– Would the results have been different with a different type of bread?

– What causes bread to go stale?

As it is important for us to learn from our investigations and try to improve them, they should also think about what we could do differently next time.

Children should bring their research into school in order to write up their conclusion.
