WOW! What a week it’s been – We’ve certainly been a swarm of busy bees!
Monday started the week off with ALGEBRA! At first we thought it was really difficult but once we understood that it was just like solving puzzles, we all began to enjoy it as the week went on. Roisin said, “It was really hard and challenging, but in a fun kind of way!”
We also finalised our draft versions of our ‘Dear Olly’ themed books, before writing them into best remembering to include everything we had learned. We were all really happy that we got to write three chapters so it is now like a book – we were even allowed to make our very own front cover! We are looking forward to reading them to our prayer friends in Reception soon.
On Wednesday afternoon, we had an afternoon of live music from around the world, which we all really enjoyed. Other highlights of the week included practicing our handwriting, to show Mrs Hartwell why we all deserve our pen license. In P.E,, we had a challenge hosted by Mr. Moynihan. We explored the consequences of jealousy and resentment in R.E through the story of Cain and Abel and acting out our own sketch to learn what we can do to to be better people. We had another class prayer time with Reception, who are doing really well learning the sign of the cross and some responses. We were all really happy when Mrs Hartwell told us we were going to start reading a book as a class – just for pleasure! She chose ‘Wonder’ by Robert Pallacio and we are already hooked with it!
Our final day of term came (Hooray!) and the following achievements were awarded:
Year 6 won attendance and house points for the week, which rewarded us with 15 minutes extra play!
Callum K, Issy, Roisin, Joseph, Maticia and Finn were awarded 100% attendeance awards for the academic year 2013-14.
Kupa, Callum M, Finn, Orla O, Annie, Kelsey and myself (Sophie) were awarded certificates for being elected a role within the school council.
Finn has obviously been working hard as not only did he receive both 100% attendance and school council but he also won superstar of the week alongside Grace B for their consistent positive attitude and enthusiasm in all that they do!
Last but not least, Kupa let out a mighty squeal when his raffle ticket was picked from the tub!
Well done everyone!
At the end of the day we sand Happy Birthday to Amie and Orla J! After receiving some yummy sweets from both birthday girls, Mrs Hartwell (or rather Mr Hartwell) treated us all to a yummy cake for being so amazing!
On behalf of Mrs Hartwell, Mrs Elkins, Sophie and Jordan, we hope you have a safe and happy half term….. HAPPY HALF TERM!!! 🙂
And also Kelsey and Callum for School Council. (We accidently missed you out, sorry:) )
Kelsey For School Council, I just re-read it and we have got Callum M. Sorry about that Kelsey. We hope there was no inconvinience caused in this matter!
