Netball League Match Vs Christ the King

I’m super proud of the All Souls Netball team who played their first match of the season (and first match ever for many of them!) last night at Christ the King school.  The match was fought evenly for most of the game but Christ the King came out eventual winners with the end result 4-2.

All of the players contributed so much to a great team performance though – and most definitely exceeded my expectations.  There were so many positive aspects to our performance and some which we will continue to work at each week in training.

Well done to Issy, Martha and Matthew from Year 6 for their excellent leadership and to Aila, Lily, Michael and Rebecca from Year 5 for working so hard.  A special thank you and well done goes to Issy for being a great captain and being named by Christ the King as our player of the match.

Our next game is against St Thomas More in less than two weeks time!

Change to Netball training next week

Please note that as we have a netball match next Tuesday (4th October), the training for next week will take place after school on Monday instead (3:15-4:15pm).  I understand if any children are unable to attend due to other commitments.

Year 4 ICT – ‘Personality Silhouettes’

Year 4 are currently learning to use image editing software and for the past two weeks have been working on turning photos of themselves into silhouettes filled with words and phases that describe and explain who they are.

Below are the first bunch.  See if you can work out who they all are.

STRIKE ACTION 5TH JULY

RE: Industrial action planned for 5th July

You may be aware that the NUT, the largest teaching union in England and Wales, has balloted its members and scheduled industrial action, in the form of a strike for Tuesday 5th July 2016 (next Tuesday).  On this occasion, All Souls will be unaffected by the scheduled strike action and so will be open as usual on the 5th.

Year 3 First Holy Communion photos

RE: Year 3 Communion Photos

Dear Parent(s),

The First Holy Communion photos are now available for you to order.  They will be on display in the hall after school next Monday (13th June) and Wednesday (15th June) evening along with order forms should you wish to purchase copies.  After next Wednesday they can be viewed by asking in the admin office.  There is an A3 class photo available, for £5 per copy, as well as individual A4 prints, at £2 each.  The photos are displayed in folders and, for ease of ordering, each photo has an order code attached to it.

Coventry Catholic Primary Schools’ Maths Challenge

A little belated now, but well done to all the schools who came to All Souls for the third Coventry Catholic Primary Schools’ Maths Challenge on Friday 20th May.

It was our best attended competition to date with teams of Year 5 pupils from All Souls, St Augustine’s, Our Lady of the Assumption, St Mary & Benedict, SS Peter and Paul, St Thomas More, St John Vianney, St Gregory’s, St Osburgs, Sacred Heart and St Elizabeth’s all competing to get their hands on the trophy.

After a full morning of intense individual and team rounds, the lead was tied between St Thomas More and SS Peter and Paul and a tiebreaker had to be used to crown a winning team.  Huge congratulations to St Thomas More for holding their nerve and pipping SS Peter and Paul to the trophy.

Well done to our home team – Martha, Regina, James and Callum – who performed consistently well all morning and finished 3rd.

Thank you also to the staff and children from All Souls who helped to organise and run the morning.
