Hello Year 6!
I hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend.
You willl now find an overview of the tasks and information on the Home Learning section of the website for the week ahead. I have uploaded the supporting documents into this week’s home learning folder. Please complete the first RE ‘My Prayer’ task on the first page of your exercise book and your PE ‘Exerise Diary’ task on the last page of your exercise book but then you may choose to do any of the other curriculum areas in any order of your choice, using the suggested timetable on the letter that was sent home to help you.
Please write the full date and title/LO as usual at the top of any written piece of work. Remember to keep these books neat showcasing your best presentation at all times please.
If you need anything, please email me and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
I would also like a quick email from each of you by the end of the week to let me know how you are and how you have got on with this week’s tasks to [email protected] Please remember to also comment on our Y6 blog posts and keep that communication going!
Try to keep each day like a school day (put the phones and consoles away!) and also make the most out of your break times to eat well, get some fresh air and exercise.
Happy home learning!
Mrs H 🙂
Thank you to all of the Mums, Aunties, Grandmas and SIsters that joined us for our Mothers’ Day celebrations today.
Year Six are putting our new ‘Peg Your Prayer’ board to use. They offered their prayers as reflection on today’s Lectio Divina based on the parable of ‘The Rich Man and Lazarus’.
Year 6 followed our Lenten footprints to show their prayer friends in Reception each station of the cross.
Year 6’s unit of art last half term was Lino Printing. They each chose a symbol which they felt represented their chosen Confirmation Saint in some way. After being taught the skills and techniques by Miss Quinn (and with a few cuts along the way!), the children have now completed their final piece and we’re sure you’ll all agree that they look AMAZING!
We couldn’t be any more proud and pleased with how they have all turned out. The amount of thought, care and effort each child put in to them is clear to see. Well done, Year 6!
As part of their preparation for Confirmation, Year 6 Confirmandi gathered together on Saturday in our parish hall for tea and cake.
Father Paul then invited us into Church to talk more about Baptism. We gathered around the Baptismal font to discuss the different signs and symbols of Baptism before renewing our Baptismal Promises together and being blessed with holy water.
We then walked over to Hearsall Baptist Church where Rev. David Stucliffe welcomed us into his Church.
We discussed the similarities between both Churches and took a closer look at the biggest difference: the Baptistry. Some children experienced what it might be like to be baptised in the Baptistry and how this differs from the Baptismal Font in our Church. Despite all the differences, we learned that both parishes believe in the the same God and together we are all part of God’s family.

Thank you to Father Paul, Catechist Barbara and Rev.Sutcliffe for a very informative and enjoyable session. Thank you also to all children and family members who attended.
Our fifth and final day of British Science Week 2020 was just as brilliant as the rest of the week!

To end our Science-filled week, children were invited to come into school dressed as Mad Scientists – everyone looked fantastic!
We also had a slithering visitor as Synthia the snake came to say hello!
Thank you to Mrs Rolison and Suntrap Centre for sharing their amazing animals with us this week – a highlight for most children (and staff!) for sure!
We ended the day with a beautiful prayer service led by Miss Corkerry, reminding us of how much Science has made our lives better. We learned more about the life of Marie Curie, her contribution to Science and the the works of her charity before being encouraged to put our own God-given talents to good use.
A huge thank you to all children, parents and staff who helped to make British Science Week 2020 our best one yet! As always, your support is greatly appreciated.
