Thank you to all of you who have brought in items for Year 4 to use to support their current Art topic, Still Life. Today, in groups, they created their own masterpiece of a display and took a pyo ready to try and replicate soon. Watch this space!

The Dogs Trust
Year 4 were extremely lucky to receive a visit from Anthea and her cute, furry and extremely excited dog called Mavis.
Anthea told us exactly what Dogs Trust do and we even got to experience what it would be like to work for them as she gave us the difficult task of trying to rehome dogs to appropriate families. The children did so well deciding who, if any one, were to be matched and why.
William and Erin experienced one of the yuckier (yet essential) jobs of picking up poo – it was fake! Phew! Roisin got to groom Mavis and four lucky children got to give her a little fuss at the end of the session too!
We learnt so much about the responsibilities of having a dog, how to behave around them, the lawful do’s and don’ts but most of all, we learnt what a wonderful job Dogs Trust do.
Thank you Andrea, Mavis and the Dogs Trust team!
‘A dog is for life; not just for Christmas’
Today was Year 4’s last dance session for the half term. They have had so much fun learning a variety of dancing styles with Mrs Cooke, including the Salsa and the Cha Cha Cha – watch them in action below!
Mrs Cooke kindly treated them to some salsa and chips as a reward for their hard work and excellent behaviour!
We are very proud of them all. Well done Year 4! 🙂

Year 4 are learning about the Jesse Tree this Advent. They have created their own bauble for our class tree that we will use as an Advent Calendar to count down the days. Each day we will read a story from the Bible about the people, prophesies, and events leading up to the birth of Jesus.

Year 4 prepared for Advent today as a group of them helped to create our own class wreath whilst the rest of the class created one in their books.
Well done to all the children who dressed up today for Children in Need to show their support and brought in £1 to help those who need it. They had a lovely time sharing some food with their house group and their teddy bears who came to join in the fun!
Thank you for your support Year 4!
Year 4 had a brilliant time at the cinema this morning watching Cars 3D as part of the Into Film festival . They were superbly behaved representing themselves and our school wonderfully. They especially loved the 3D glasses they got to keep!

Over the next couple of weeks, Year 4 will be looking at Still Life as part of their art topic.
To help them to create their final piece, please could you send in any inexpensive vases, bowls, bottles, ornamental pieces, fruit (preferably fake) and any table clothes you may have by Monday 20th November.
We will return all items once we have finished with them.
Thank you.
Mrs H

Just to remind you all that Year 4 will be going to the cinema on Wednesday 15th November to see Cars 3.

Please can I ask that children arrive promptly in school for 8.30am as we will be doing two minibus trips and therefore want to get organised quickly.
Please see letter for more details and ensure that any outstanding consent forms are returned as soon as possible.
Many thanks,
Mrs Hartwell
As part of World Science Day, Year 4 learnt about Marie Curie the scientist. This year’s theme is ‘Peace and Development’ and so we focused on how Marie Curie’s work led to the development of x-rays. Ask them what they found out!
Year 4 are now tasked with the competition to plan and advertise a fundraising event to raise money for the Marie Curie charity and teach the rest of All Souls’ about the amazing work this charity does and why.
The winning group will lead their fundraising day across the school in the near future so stay tuned…
