Year 4 continued with their current science topic, ‘Living things and their habitats’ today by going on a bug hunt around the school grounds. The class were very successful in identifying different types of invertebrates.
Here they are in action:

Year 3/4 Easter Play – Thursday 6th April 2017
As you may already know, Years 3 and 4 have been preparing and practising their Easter Play production over the last few weeks.
If you would like to come and watch the performance there will be two opportunities to do so (an afternoon and evening showing). These will take place on:
Thursday 6th April at 13:30
and
Thursday 6th April at 18:30
For the evening showing please ensure that your child/children are at school no later than 18:00 to give them time to prepare. The performance is scheduled to finish between 19:15-19:30 so please arrange collection for this time.
There will be a DVD of the performance for sale so we ask that you do not record or take photos during the performance. There will be an opportunity to take photos of your child at the end of the performance. Furthermore, there is no charge for coming to watch the show but there will be a collection box for one of the school’s Lenten charities in the hall for anyone wishing to donate to a good cause.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Kind regards,
Miss Corkerry and Mr Marsh
There will be not Futsal club tonight due to the Parent Consultation Evening. We will be back to normal next week, Tuesday 3:15-4:30.
Last week Year 4 wrote and performed some poetry based on the mythical creature that guards the Underworld, Cerberus. Using a poem by Clare Bevan (‘The Three-Headed Dog’) as a template, each group made their own version using the same rhyming and syllable pattern. Then we had some great fun performing them – although a few of a class are a little camera shy and not as expressive as when they were practising!
Year 4 were given their parts for the Easter play today. They should try to learn their lines over half-term and be ready to practise as soon as we’re all back.
Everyone either has a speaking or singing part. However, we may edit the script to add/change lines during rehearsals. So they may have more, or different lines to learn in the future.
I can’t wait to get started.
Year 4’s half-term homework is to continue with their spelling and times tables practise.
They have been asked to choose words to practise from a list given to them, using methods that they are familiar with (pyramid words, look cover write check, using sentences and underlining graphemes in the word).
The children have also been asked to find the origins of some words – if possible. This can be done by searching online and finding out where and when the word originated and recording this in their homework book.
The class have also been given the timetables grids that they know how to use. They should fill out 2 grids and time themselves, aiming to beat their first time on their second attempt.
Have a great half-term everyone.
Last week was Internet Safety Week and we had some great discussions about how to stay safe online. The class showed a lot of maturity and compassion with their input to the lessons and discussions.
Here are some of Year 4’s internet safety posters. The best two will be chosen and entered into a competition against other local schools.
What this space!
Well done to everyone! 🙂
Year 4 will be visiting Bishop Ullathorne tomorrow (Thursday 2nd February) for the Modern Foreign Languages Day.
Bishop Ullathorne have arranged the transport and will be providing lunch. Children need to be at school for normal time in full school uniform. We will be back at school before 15:00.
Thanks,
Mr Marsh
