Year 4 continued their work on Advent this morning by research and creating a Jesse Tree. The class worked together to design and illustrate their own symbols and then put them together to make a Jesse Tree collage.
Year 4 continued their work on Judaism last week with a trip to Solihull Synagogue. The class did a wonderful job of representing the school and took the opportunity to ask lots of questions.
We would all like to say another big ‘thank you’ to Solihull Synagogue and in particular Marina, who gave an excellent and informative tour.
Year 4 are thoroughly enjoying learning how to play the steel pans every Monday morning, they are showing signs of improvement as well! Here they are in action:
Year 4 have been looking at a variety of non-fiction texts over the last few weeks. They have all been focused around different types of natural disasters, linking closely with our current geography topic. Here are the fantastic explanations that they wrote last week.
Later this week we will be having a go at making our own (active) volcanoes! Watch this space!!!
Year 4 marked the beginning of Advent by putting together the class Advent wreath and writing their own Advent promise to add to our display.
Year 4 had a go at the Mannequin Challenge today. Here it is – I hope you enjoy it as much as they did!
Year 4 had another great afternoon ‘Tackling Numbers’ with the Wasps. After their maths less they played their first game with the offside rule and passing backwards.

Year 4 began their new science topic last week – Sound. The whole class took part in a carousel of activities including:
- Experimenting with strong telephones
- Making their own harmonica out of lolly sticks and elastic bands
- Investigating if they can see and feel sound
- Making different sounds with milk bottles
- Making an instrument from an art straw
This week we will be following up on these activities and finding out how we made the different sounds and how they travel.
