On Thursday afternoon and Friday of this week, Year 4 will have an Art Day. We will be looking at the life and works of Swiss-German Artist Paul Klee and having a go at their own versions of some of his famous paintings like the Castle and Sun and Separation in the Evening (below).
Please can children bring in an old/unwanted shirt or t-shirt to use as an Art Shirt for Thursday and Friday?
Many thanks – photos of the finished works will follow!
Mr Marsh.

PE – Athletics with Mr Youson on Wednesday (outdoor kit)
Thank you to everyone who came to watch and support the Year 3 and 4 Easter Play on Tuesday. We are all really proud of all the children for putting on such a professional performance! Well done!
A special well done to Georgia, who stood in as a Trader at the very last minute!
Those of you who ordered DVDs, they will be on their way to you shortly.
Today in Year 4 we looked at the features of discussion texts.
The homework task this week is to write a discussion on whether we should have a 2 day working week, and a 5 day weekend. The class had lots of ideas FOR and AGAINST this idea that they shared during the English lesson today. Some of these can be found in the picture below.
Please use the ideas we shared in class, the success criteria sheet and the picture below to help you write your discussion.
I look forward to reading them!
Mr Marsh
The weekly book reviews are up and running in Year 4 and so far we have been treated to reviews on 6 different books. These are being displayed in the classroom throughout the week. Here is Olivia’s review of Ally’s World #1 – The Past the Present and the Loud Loud Girl (click here to download).
A letter went home today with Year 3 and 4 pupils today regarding the Easter Play.
There will be an afternoon and evening showing of the play on Tuesday 15th March. These will be at 13:30 and again at 18:30.
For the evening showing please ensure that your child/children are at school no later than 18:00 to give them time to prepare. The performance is scheduled to finish between 19:15-19:30 so please arrange collection for this time.
There will be a DVD of the performance for sale so we ask that you do not record or take photos during the performance. There will be an opportunity to take photos of your child at the end of the performance.
Furthermore, there is no charge for coming to watch the show but there will be a collection box for one of the school’s Lenten charities in the hall for anyone wishing to donate to a good cause.
A copy of the letter can be downloaded here.
Year 4 began their latest Science topic today, ‘Living things and their habitats’.
We were classifying different living things in a range of ways by making Venn diagrams from hula-hoops.
On Thursday next week (10th March), Year 4 will be attending the MFL (Modern Foreign Languages) Conference at Bishop Ullathorne School. Transport has been arranged to collect the children at 9am and to return them before the end of the school day, lunch will be provided.
For more details please download the letter here.
