Year 4 half-term homework

You have two homework tasks to complete this half-term. The first will be based on your personal learning targets in English. There are a variety of tasks that you can access below. Please choose the task/s that match up to your targets and complete them (neatly!) for the first day back.

The second homework task is to complete the Times Tables Challenge sheet to keep your tables sharp over the half term! Remember to time yourself (or ask someone to time you) and see if you can improve your time! These can be done on the sheets.

 

PLEASE REMEMBER TO WRITE THE DATE AND A TITLE AND TO TAKE THE SAME CARE OVER THE PRESENTATION OF YOUR HOMEWORK AS YOU DO OVER YOUR WORK IN CLASS.

Year 4 RE – Pentecost

Yesterday in R.E. Year 4 performed interviews in the style of news reporters with one of the disciples who was present during Pentecost.

We are lucky to have some very natural performers in the class! Again, watch out for the blooper!

 

Year 4 Brass Assembly

Thank you to those of you who came along to watch the Year 4 brass assembly today. The class did themselves proud with some great group, duet and solo performances. They have come a long way since September! Here are some photos and a video – more videos to follow.

Year 4 Science – Electricity

Last week Year 4 started their new science topic – Electricity. We began by working in groups to create and perform presentations explaining how electricity works. Here are some of the presentations – watch out for the blooper!!

Year 4 missed the Superstar Assembly today due to their tennis session.

So I can gladly announce that this week’s Superstars are:

Zach – for some excellent work in maths, some great questions/answers in science and some polite and kind behaviour as always!

Year 4 Pond Dipping

The Year 4 pond dipping trip this afternoon was a success. There was a huge variety of wildlife at the park and the whole class enjoyed exploring the area!

Year 4 Gardening

Year 4 have been out in the garden again. The salad leaves, courgettes and runner beans have sprouted in the classroom over the last week and have now been planted in our raised bed. Hopefully we will have enough to harvest and send home!

 

Year 4 – Pond Dipping – 6th May

As part of the current Year 4 science topic ‘Living Things and Their Habitats’, we will be going pond dipping on Friday afternoon this week (6th May) at Allesley Park. A letter went home with each of the children at school today regarding this.

Please can we request that the children bring in some suitable footwear such as wellies or trainers for the occasion? If you have any queries regarding the activity, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

I am really looking forward to watching the class use and apply their new knowledge of different species in the local environment.

Year 4 Art Day

The Year 4 Art Day was a great success last week. The class worked really hard and enjoyed discussing the work of Paul Klee. They used tints to create a skyline backdrop and then recreated their own version of Paul Klee’s Castle and Sun.
